What Does a Spider Spirit Animal Mean and Symbolise?

Spider spirit animal symbolizes creativity, persistence, cleverness, feminine power. However, the real question is, what does a Spider spirit animal mean and symbolize for you?

A Spider spirit animal can give a message to you in different ways.

For example, what do you do when you find a Spider creating its web at home?

What is the first thing you do?

You clean it immediately or stop whatever you are doing and start to observe with excitement, illusion, and awe.

Spider is a master weaver.

A unique pattern emerges when the web formed by combining the yarn particles produced is completed.

There is a lot that this whole process can teach us if we are ready to receive.

What does it mean to have a Spider spirit animal?

A spirit animal Spider is incredibly creative.

A Spider often constructs a web of special thick silk. This is to attract insects with the UV light reflection of the silk it uses.

Moreover, to save themselves from other creatures, Spiders also can make fake poop.

However, they always connect at the center if you notice Spider webs. Besides, the web is a Spider’s world. Therefore, if you have a Spider spirit animal, it may mean you consider yourself in the center of your world. And focus on improving your life.

The Spider comes to show the perfect plan of creation, reminding people how they have weaved their lives from moment to moment.

Moreover, if a Spider comes to you as a spirit animal, it may be an invitation from Goddess to join the sacred feminine energy.

Grandmother Spider stealing the fire

You can keep the trace of this sacred feminine energy in the mythology of the grandmother Spider stealing the fire.

Once upon a time, there was no light, and people and animals lived in complete darkness. So finally, they decided to steal the fire from the East.

Many animals tried. Opossum, vulture, and crow, but they could not succeed.

Crows were wight and singing very nicely, but their color and sound changed after looking to fire for so long.

Finally, the grandmother Spider tried. She created her web to East, formed a pot from clay, went in silence, stole the fire, hid it in the pot of clay, and covered it with a lid.

When the grandmother returned, the council asked who the volunteer would be to keep the fire alive. Everybody was afraid, but the human accepted. Grandmother Spider showed the human to do the pot, weave the webs, and keep the fire alive.

What is the symbolic meaning of a Spider spirit animal?

In the symbolism of the web woven by the Spider, the matrix that connects all beings and thus forms the basis of the world becomes comprehensible.

The Spiders are the symbol of creativity and patience. Besides, the Spider can guide you to find your imperfections and find creative solutions.

Nonetheless, the web of a Spider is an excellent geometry.

And the most exciting thing about them is that no web matches another Spider web.

All the webs are constructed with creativity and uniqueness.

The Spider’s body is like the number eight and has eight legs. This number symbolizes the infinite possibilities of creation.

Moreover, Spiders are one of the most enduring animals. First, they weave their web very carefully. Then they wait with patience for their prey to fall into their traps.

Hence, a spirit animal Spider knows what is worth doing.

However, Native Americans consider Spiders as the symbol of teachers. That is because they believe Spiders have taught human alphabets by tracing their webs.

Moreover, Hindus symbolize Spiders as Maya or Illusion.

Are Spiders a sign of something?

What does it mean to see a Spider? Well, many people believe Spiders are a sign of good luck.

Hence, if you have seen a Spider recently, it may help you find your destiny.

Besides, it also can be a sign that he is your spirit animal.

And maybe he is the one who is guiding you to read this article.

However, if you still do not know what your spirit animal is, you can find it through a shamanic journey as I did.

What are Spiders an omen of?

Besides good signs, people believe Spiders are an omen of fortune.

If you find a red Spider on your body, it indicates money and good luck. Besides, seeing a Spider crossing wall is also good luck.

However, killing a Spider is believed to be a bad omen.

As a Spider can bring you good fortune if you kill them, you’re inviting bad luck.

Spiritual meaning of a Spider spirit animal in the house

Though some people don’t like Spiders in their homes, Spiders bring you many benefits.

These include getting rid of harmful insects such as mosquitoes. However, spiritually a Spider can mean a lot of things.

If you notice a single Spider in your house, he is likely to guide you to success.

Besides, it can help you to awaken your creative mind. Moreover, it also indicates your potential inner energy.

Furthermore, it may try to tell you to focus on your dream with patience.

What does it mean if you find a Spider in your house?

However, if you found a Spider in the house, it also can mean that he is your spirit animal.

Therefore, you should seek guidance from him. Maybe your power animal is calling you for a shamanic journey.

Moreover, a Spider slowly makes the web with patience and dedication. You also can take these lessons from your visitor. Try to notice everything it does.

The Spider weaves the web, and we weave our realities.

When you see a Spider making its web, look at it carefully.

Maybe it shows you which stage of creation you are in a while weaving your destiny.

Seeing a Spider at night meaning

“A Spider sewed at night

Without a light

Upon an arc of white.

If ruff it was of dame

Or shroud of gnome,

Himself, himself inform.

Of immortality

His strategy

Was physiognomy.”

– “A Spider Sewed at Night” by Emily Dickinson

There is a belief that seeing a Spider at night brings bad news.

Spider meaning in Islam

What does the Qur’an say about Spiders?

The word Spider is mentioned twice in a verse of the Holy Quran. It is as follows:

“The example of those who take allies other than Allah is like that of the Spider who takes a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the Spider, if they only knew.”

– Al-Ankabut (29:41)

Hadith about Spider webs: The Spider and the cave story

Besides the Quran, there’s a fascinating story about a Spider I read in the hadith.

It says, once a Spider saved the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his friend Abu Bakr from enemies.

The story, in a nutshell, is as follows:

It was 622 AD when Qurayeshis tried to kill Prophet Muhammad (saw). So, he decided to travel to Madina from Mecca.

With him, he took his closest disciple Abu Bakr. But, before heading north, they hid in a cave in Jabal Thawr.

That’s because enemies were following them to the cave.

In the meantime, Allah ordered a Spider to construct a web at the cave entrance.

Therefore, when the Qurayeshis reached them, they saw the web & thought it would take days to make such an intricate web.

On the other hand, Muhammad (saw) left only a few hours ago. Hence, there’s no possibility that he and Abu Bakr is inside the cave.

Therefore they went, and a Spider saved Muhammad (saw) on the order of Allah.

Both the hadith and Qur’an mention Spiders as protectors and guidance.

Spirit animal Spider spiritual meaning

Spider as spiritually means progressive, enduring, creative, and source of sacred feminine energy. However, I believe a spirit animal Spider has more to offer if you can communicate with him properly.

Spiders construct their web with creativity and patience. And once they start building, they only stop when it’s done.

Therefore, they can also teach your spirit to be creative and progressive.

However, Spiders build things and fight against their enemies with few resources.

Hence, it indicates that Spiders can help you fight against odds with all you have.

Moreover, you’ll be able to focus more on your skills rather than looking for resources.

Furthermore, a spirit animal Spider will teach you to find your destiny and see your own life in the whole life connected with others.

Spider gives the guidance of Oneness.

The Spider’s teaching is to proceed with precision and grace, whatever the circumstances.

Developing positive feelings and attitudes to achieve desired results requires extraordinary effort and awareness; until this holistic approach becomes part of the personality.

Conclusion

If you feel like a Spider is coming to you to give a message or your spirit animal is a Spider, take care of it.

Spiders are incredible animals full of wisdom.

The Spider – the symbol of creation, weaving our truths, destiny, and eternity, maybe inviting you to a new relationship.

It is time to discover more.

Enjoy the journey!

What Does an Elephant Spirit Animal Mean and Symbolise?

Spirit animal Elephant comes to you to give its guidance about ancient wisdom, self-esteem, patience, power, strength, and compassion.

All humanity has respected Elephants throughout all human history. It has been part of our collective beliefs, stories, and symbols.

Looking at these giant animals, we remembered our restricted way of perception. We accepted it as the collective story of blind men and an Elephant which we will talk about in a while.

It was six men of Indostan

To learn much inclined,

Who went to see the Elephant

(Though all of them were blind),

That each by observation

It might satisfy his mind

And so these men of Indostan

Disputed loud and long,

Each in his own opinion

Exceeding stiff and strong,

Though each was partly in the right

And all were in the wrong!

“The Blind Men and the Elephant” by John Godfrey Saxe

Let’s dive deeper into the symbols and stories of Elephants worldwide to prevail the meanings of the guidance of spirit animal Elephants.

What does the spirit animal Elephant mean?

The spirit animal Elephant represents wisdom, patience, loyalty, strength, and strong bonds with others.

When an Elephant comes to you as a spirit animal, you also get these traits in you.

However, when it first appears to you, Elephant spirit animals will ask you some questions. For example;

  • Have you lost your connection with people at your home?
  • Did you try to stretch your empathic skills?
  • Do you feel like you’re alone?

Your spirit animal Elephant will help you find the answer to all the questions. And then he will work to resolve them.

The Elephant is quite an emotional animal.

They grieve when they lost any of their family members. Sometimes they go through depression if they lose their babies.

Therefore, as a Spirit animals, Elephants will teach you to care about others.

One interesting thing about Elephants is that they live in matriarchal groups. Therefore, have strong bonds with others.

Hence, he will assist you in living in harmony with others.

What is the meaning of an Elephant charm?

The Elephant charm is trendy in Western cultures.

This first started during the British rule in the Indian subcontinent.

In Europe and America, they believe Elephant charm is lucky. They also tend to turn up the trunk always. They believe downward-facing trunks will result in running out of luck.

The Elephant charm also signifies the strong bonding between family members.

Therefore, the charm will help you improve your love, care, and respect for other family members.

Westerns wear Elephant necklaces to bring the lucky Elephant charm. Nonetheless, a spirit animal Elephant can also be your lucky charm.

Is an Elephant good luck?

Many people consider Elephants to be good luck.

Well, it has a long story.

Feng shui and Indian cultures primarily recognize Elephants as good luck.

Even the Elephant-like Hindu god Ganesha represents wealth and luck. So naturally, therefore, it’s more prevalent in Asia. I’ll discuss them more in a while.

Nonetheless, after world war I, in Thailand, a royal family owned a few white Elephants. And only that family could afford to own Elephants at that time. Therefore, they got a lot of media attention.

Besides, many soldiers were returning home with a vast knowledge of the Hindu God Ganesha. So, the speculation is that this is when the belief of Elephants is good luck arises first.

What do Elephants symbolize in different cultures?

Elephants are pretty popular animals in several cultures.

Especially the large size of Elephants attracts more attention. However, in some cultures, they bring luck while increasing bonding among people in some cultures.

I have explained some of the famous Elephant cultures and symbolism below:

1. Feng Shui

Feng Shui is a Chinese Geomancy that originated from the ancient Chinese practice of using energy factors to influence your surroundings. However, they have different beliefs about Elephants.

In Feng Shui, Elephants are considered sacred animals. It can bring good luck and wealth to your family and provide protection. However, the results depend on how you use them.

For example, if you place a statue of an Elephant in front of doors, it will bring good luck. Besides, if you put it in the middle of the house, it is supposed to protect you from harmful energies. Moreover, Elephant statues can give you knowledge, improve your career, and develop fertility.

2. Burmese Folklore

Although Elephants are one of the largest animals in the world, in Burmese Folklore, there is a small and rare water Elephant.

They are believed to be the size of a mouse.

However, they can attack giant Elephants and can eat their brains. Besides, they live high up in the mountains.

3. Kamba Tribe

Kamba is a tribe of Kenya. They have an interesting tale about the origin of Elephants. The story in a nutshell is:

Once a poor man heard of the rich and generous Ivonya-Ngia (He that feeds the poor). Then he set out to look for him, dreaming of being rich.

However, one day he reached the mansion where Ivonya-Ngia gave him an ointment and told him to rub it on his wife’s canine teeth.

So he did it, and his wife’s teeth grew to the size of a man’s hand.

Then he sold them at a reasonable price. After that, he continued to rub the ointment. But after a particular time refused to give her teeth, and slowly, her entire body transformed into an Elephant.

Then she left for the forest and gave birth to new Elephants.

This myth explains why some people believe Elephants can bring wealth.

What do Elephants symbolize in Christianity?

Elephants, the gentle giants, symbolize mercy and strength like Christ. Though Elephants can cause a great deal of destruction, they do not behave violently toward others.

Therefore, in Christianity, Elephants are symbols of patience, grace, temperance, and strength.

However, though there isn’t any direct mention of Elephants in the bible, I found a verse mentioning Ivory:

“Once every three years, the fleet of ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory*, apes, and peacocks.”

1 Kings 10:22

*Ivory is derived from the Elephant in greek.

Spirit animal Elephant symbolism Buddhism

In Buddhism, some specific symbols represent the Buddha. One of them is a White Elephant.

In Buddhism, white symbolizes holiness, enlightenment, and purity.

Besides, Buddhist believe Elephants possess great wisdom and compassion.

I have found an exciting tale of Elephants. It says, Queen Maya was the mother of Siddhartha, who later became Buddha.

When she was pregnant, she had a dream of an Elephant.

The Elephant brought her a lotus flower. However, the belief here is that the flower symbolizes Buddha. Therefore, the Buddhist people respect Elephants.

Spirit animal Elephant symbolism Hinduism

Elephants are sacred and significant animals in Hinduism.

One of the Gods of the Hindu religion, “Lord Ganesha,” wears the Elephant’s head.

According to Hindu tradition, Lord Ganesha is the God of luck, success, and wisdom.

Therefore, Hindu people respect Elephants as the symbol of these things. Moreover, they use the symbol of Elephants to invite good luck.

Besides, there are a few more legends available about Elephants in Hinduism. One of them says that eight Elephants are located at eight corners of the world to protect the earth.

Moreover, they’re sometimes visited by Gods who ride on their backs. However, Hindus believe when any of these Elephants move, it causes earthquakes.

Why are Elephants sacred in Hinduism?

As I said earlier, Lord Ganesha in Hinduism is an Elephant headed God. So, therefore, they consider Elephants sacred in Hinduism.

Ganesha can help you remove all the obstacles in your life.

One of the ancient Hindu texts says:

“All obstacles, whatever they may be, will be rooted out by worshipping Ganesh.”

Moreover, the Elephant head of Ganesh represents power and strength. But, simultaneously, one of his broken tusks resembles the ability to accept good things in life and stay away from the negatives.

Spirit animal Elephant quotes: What is the saying about Elephants?

Now it is time to get some inspiration with Elephant quotes!

“Elephants love reunions. After years of separation, they recognize one another and greet each other with wild, boisterous joy. There’s bellowing and trumpeting ear flapping and rubbing. Trunks entwine.” –

Jennifer Richard Jacobson, Small as an Elephant

“She owned the road

as an Elephant owns the veldt

and like a big blue Elephant

moved with massive grace

and dignity.”

David Drake, Overdue Notice: Poems from the Library

“There is no creature among all the Beasts of the world which hath so great an ample demonstration of the power and wisdom of Almighty God as the Elephant.”

Edward Topsell

These famous quotes show an Elephant’s empathy, power, and strength. Therefore, if an Elephant comes to you as your spirit animal, you’re likely to embrace these traits.

What is the spiritual meaning of the spirit animal Elephant?

Spirit animal Elephants can mean numerous things in your life.

It depends on the path of your life. However, if you go to the deeper state of your mind, you’ll be able to interpret the message better.

Strength, social bonding, power, good luck, patience are some of the common spiritual traits of an Elephant.

Nonetheless, spiritually, Elephants are associated with love, belongingness, and loyalty. They’re always loyal to their matriarchal groups. Moreover, Elephants’ feminine nature will enable you to love your close ones and care for them.

However, Elephants are pretty slow at moving. Therefore, for some people, a spirit animal Elephant can mean laziness and sluggish movement. But on the other hand, Elephants have an excellent memory too, which will make your mind sharper.

Elephants’ eyes, whose senses of touch, smell, hearing, and taste are very sensitive, are disproportionately small to their heads.

Since it is difficult to turn left and right, they are partially prevented from seeing the sides.

Because of these limited viewing angles, they often look straight ahead and sometimes may not notice what is happening.

Elephant guidance becomes vital in periods when the focus should be on the whole of life.

Maybe inspired by this attribute of the Elephants, the parable “blind men and the Elephant” came to life and was widely diffused worldwide.

The parable originated in the ancient Indian subcontinent and has crossed between many religious traditions.

It is part of Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist texts of the 1st millennium CE.

The story also appears in the 2nd millennium Sufi and Baháʼí Faith lore.

The tale later became well known in Europe, with 19th-century American poet John Godfrey Saxe creating his version as a poem, with a final verse that explains that the Elephant is a metaphor for God, and the various blind men represent religions that disagree on something no one has thoroughly experienced.

The parable continues as such

A group of blind men heard that a strange animal, called an Elephant, had been brought to the town, but none were aware of its shape and form.

So, out of curiosity, they said: “We must inspect and know it by touch, of which we are capable.”

So, they sought it out, and when they found it, they groped about it.

The first person, whose hand landed on the trunk, said, “This being is like a thick snake.”

It seemed like a kind of fan for another one whose hand reached its ear.

Another person, whose hand was upon its leg, said the Elephant is a pillar-like tree trunk.

The blind man who placed his hand upon its side said to the Elephant, “is a wall.”

Another who felt its tail described it as a rope.

The last felt its tusk, stating the Elephant is that which is hard, smooth, and like a spear.

Conclusion

Elephants, which are highly respected in all ages of history, are among the world’s largest and longest-lived land animals.

If an Elephant is coming to you as a spirit animal, accept it with respect and focus on creating a relationship as it is how to start.

Tigers are brave, strong, and aggressive. But how does the spirit animal tiger affect your life?

If you have found that a tiger is your spirit animal, then you must be curious to know how it can help you in life.

However, if you don’t know yet about your spirit animal, you can find it through shamanic journeys.

You can read about my shamanic journey here.

Every spirit animal has a unique message.

Similarly, every person receives a distinct meaning.

So, believe you’re special, and your spirit animal tiger has a unique message for you.

Therefore, in this article, I’ll try to help you to decode that message.

You’ll get an idea of what the tiger spirit animal means and symbolizes.

So, let’s start with the meaning.

What does a tiger spirit animal mean?

William Blake, in his poem ‘The Tyger’ wrote:

“Tyger Tyger, burning bright,

In the forests of the night;

What immortal hand or eye,

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?”

Blake here wondered if the tiger is so fearless, what divine and mighty hand were required to create such a creature?

Indeed, tigers shine brighter than others.

Tigers possess a unique character.

They’re very conscious about their movements.

Although they make a lot of journeys, most of the time they spend resting.

Because they don’t like to waste their stamina on needless matters.

So, if your spirit animal is a tiger, you can learn a lot about leading a valiant and shrewd life.

However, to understand the meaning of the spirit animal tiger, you need to have a good idea of what it represents and its personality.

I have explained everything below for your convenience.

What does the tiger represent?

The tiger represents courage, strong willpower, and strength.

They are respected worldwide for their courage and fearlessness.

Tigers also have strong willpower in them.

They can lie in a place for multiple days for fulfilling their motive. And they never get tired of it because they are well aware of when to strike.

Moreover, tigers will do anything to achieve what they want.

Who are stronger? Tigers or Lions? Let me answer this.

While lions are considered to be the king of the jungle, tigers are stronger. There’s an old saying, “Never wake a sleeping tiger.”

That’s because you can not compete against his strength.

Militaries in Choson Dynasty Korea used to wear clothes decorated with tiger embroideries.

That’s because they respected the tigers for their unbelievable strength and courage.

Tiger spirit animal personality

Tigers are territorial animals.

That means the rule over own kingdom with an iron fist.

So, when a tiger comes into your life as a spirit animal, you’ll be able to face and solve all the difficulties of your life.

Spirit animal tigers possess some unique personalities.

It will make you more persistent.

Moreover, the tiger spirit will assist you in making the right decision at the right moment. This will enable you to save your energy for use when necessary.

Tigers are also very much passionate about what they do. So, if you have a tiger as your spirit animal, you’re likely to have a passionate personality.

Again, the tiger spirit animal loves to roam around independently. It will help you to use your strength with freedom.

White tiger spirit animal

Though both are the same creature, white tigers are rare. Hence, possess some distinct characteristics from other tigers.

Along with willpower, courage, and strength, a white tiger spirit animal represents war, instinct, and clairvoyance.

The white tiger is also one of the five mythical tigers that guard cosmic forces and cardinal points in the world.

However, the white tiger guards the west cardinal points. It represents the afterlife.

In Chinese mythology, the white tiger is known as Bai hu. Moreover, Bai hu represents long age and power.

However, according to the myth, he is never evident on the earth unless there’s universal peace.

What does a tiger symbolize?

A tiger symbolizes power, strength, courage, conscious influence, passion, and fierceness.

In ancient India, tigers were known to be protecting jungles and forests.

Also, kill those who trespassed without showing respect.

And people couldn’t do anything as tigers are so powerful.

Moreover, the Hindu God Shiva wears tiger skin to demonstrate his power and bravery.

One special thing about tigers is that they can see in the dark and at night they’re most active.

Though they’re awake during the day, they pick a night to hunt down their prey.

This has symbolic importance.

Tiger would guide you to see the deeper meanings, have powerful intuition and senses, and teach you how to see beyond your senses.

If you have a tiger as a spirit animal, maybe your most effective working hours could be at night.

Tiger also symbolizes the new moon.

If you will have a tiger as a temporary spirit animal in your shamanic journey, then it could mean that new beginnings and new adventures are at the door.

Tiger symbolism in literature

“Aunt Jennifer’s tigers prance across a screen,

Bright topaz denizens of the world of green.

They do not fear the men beneath the tree;

They pace in sleek chivalric certainty.”

Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers, Adrienne Rich.

In literature, tigers symbolize protection, as well as hunters. But one thing is clear that they’re the most powerful.

Tiger symbolism in Chinese zodiac

Tiger is one of the twelve Chinese zodiacs and symbolizes ferocity and strong determination, and power of spirit.

Therefore, people who are born in the tiger year are considered to be more self-confident, brave, and powerful.

Moreover, tigers are also believed to be protectors of the child.

This is why babies in China often wear tiger hats on New year’s night to wish for a healthy life.

Also, in Chinese mythology, the tiger rules over all other animals and takes decisions for them.

Specifically, for their stripes on the forehead, which matches the Chinese word “王,” which means “king.”

What tiger represents in Buddhism?

If you’re like meditation, you’re going to like it.

In Tantric Buddhism, the tiger skin represents the transformation of anger into insights and wisdom.

It also protects the mediator from spiritual interference and probable outside harm.

What does tiger mean in the Bible?

Though in the bible, there’s a lot of mention of lions and leopards, unfortunately, I couldn’t find any word of tigers.

However, some Christians believe tigers are a symbol of cruelty, martyrdom, and vanity.

That’s because, at an early age, a lot of Christians were thrown in front of tigers and lions because of their faith.

What does a tiger symbolize spiritually?

Spiritually, the tiger is the symbol of patience, success, and personal strength.

When a tiger comes to you as a spirit animal, it teaches you how to have patience until the perfect moment.

Moreover, you should always welcome the spirit animal tiger with the utmost respect.

That’s because you may have faced a lot of difficulties in your life.

And the tiger spirit can enlighten you on how to get rid of those problems.

It also protects you from future uncertainties.

Even in Vietnam, tigers are considered protectors.

They revere Giang Avo, a tiger spirit, protector of the forest as well as a human with complex rituals.

However, the rituals include sacrificing a tiger in a particular manner, then burying it in the middle of town.

After that, the belief is Giang Avo protects that city from all harm.

Nonetheless, tigers, as spirit animals, will make you adventurous.

Also, you’ll gain incredible personal strength. They’re well known for that.

Spiritually, tigers can bring different messages to different people.

A shamanic journey is a great start to having proper contact with them.

After that, you can contact your spirit animal anywhere you like.

Conclusion

So, to wrap up tigers are full of symbolism of power, loyalty, care, and ability.

They would come to guide you to slow down and reflect on your life, once having your power continue with patience and self-trust.

They will lead you to find success.

He guides you to recognize your charisma and how to keep it up.

Are lions loyal?

Yes, of course.

The lion is a loyal creature.

He comes up to protect and defend his pride no matter what the risk is.

Therefore, the lion here is guiding you about your loyal nature.

What is the symbolic meaning of a lion?

Lion has been the symbol of the Sun and gold. Middle-aged alchemists symbolize Sun with sulfur and Moon with the element mercury.

They have said that they were looking for gold to hide their search for the path for spiritual perfection.

In Ancient Egypt, the lion was the symbol of power and fortune.

The young lion was symbolizing the rising Sun.

If a lion spirit animal is coming into your life, maybe it is giving you signals that you are in the life stage of your shining identity.

When you look at a lion you feel power and dignity.

When you hear their majestic roar, you would believe their courage.

If you continue to observe them you will realize that they are calm, peaceful, and relaxed.

Inside you, they awaken feeling like respect, grace, mystery, focus, and knowledge.

Lion spirit animals come to show you how to carry your power and how to be in balance.

Does the lion represent Jesus?

According to Wikipedia, “The Lion of Judah is also mentioned in the Book of Revelation, as a term representing Jesus, according to Christian theology.”

In ancient beliefs, it was said that the lion cubs are born dead and were given life by their father’s roar.

Due to this, in Christianity, the lion represents Jesus. Being the king of the jungle also represents Jesus being the king in the religious aspect.

Lion as a spirit animal here is guiding you to regain your leadership and status if you are lagging.

It is giving you the message of attaining the top position once again if you are down on the list.

Lion symbolism in Bible

The bible represents both the positive and negative aspects of the lion:

“They shall go after the Lord;

he will roar like a lion;

when he roars,

his children shall come trembling from the west;”

(Hosea 11:10)

“Like a roaring lion or charging bear

is a wicked ruler over a poor people.”

 (Proverbs 28:15)

The first verse is positively presenting the lion.

The lion spirit here gives us the message of recognizing, attaining, and using our power, strength, and majestic character.

Alternatively, the second verse is depicting the negative nature.

The threatening roar of the lion here brings the message of evil and threats.

It indicates the satanic voices of threat and harm.

If you are facing any kind of hardships right now and have self-doubts…

If you are worried about the roars of despair and disbelief and see a lion somehow, blow away all roars.

Have firm belief in yourself, overcome your fears, and do not surrender in front of any evil and doubts.

Lion symbolism in Islam

Rumi uses the lion as a symbol of “Insan-ı Kamil”, an honorific title to describe the Prophet Muhammad.

The phrase means “the person who has reached perfection”, literally “the complete person” or the murshid, the guide-teacher in the spiritual path.

The responsibility of the murshid was and still is to remind the person of her own source and help her to be aware of her ego on the path.

Ali ibn Abi Talib was a cousin, son-in-law, and companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad was called the “Lion of God”.

There is a story linked with this symbol:

“When Prophet Muhammad ascends the Miraj (the Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad into heaven), first a lion appears before him, the lion asks the prophet for anything; otherwise it means that it will not pass. Prophet takes off the ring on his finger and hands it to him.

On the way back from Miraj, he sees a door and enters… When he enters, he saw Hz. Ali was there and he had that ring that Prophet gave to the lion while ascending to Miraj. There Prophet Muhammad said:

“Ya Ali, I could not arrive to understand your secret.”

Lion head symbol meaning

In Egyptian mythology, “Maahes was an ancient Egyptian lion-headed god of war”.

He was the son of Bastet about whom we have learned in the lioness spirit animal part.

He had the same nature as his mother and was linked with war and safeguarding.

The lion head symbol indicates a sense of safeguard, loyalty, leadership, and defense against the enemy.

If you are seeing a lion’s head in your life, try to receive what it’s guiding you.

Revive your true instincts of leadership, strength, dependability, and guardianship.

In popular culture, Singapore uses the lion’s head as a symbol of courage, strength, and excellence.

Its ferocious demeanor is used as a national tenacity to face the hardships and conquer them.

There is an ancient story of a Malay prince who survived a storm in the sea with his men and reached the bank of the current Singapore River.

There, during his hunt, he saw a lion in the jungle. Taking the lion as an omen of their good luck, he decided to live there and named the city Singapura (the Malay words: Singa meaning Lion, and Pura meaning city). Hence, Singapore is nicknamed The Lion City.

For that reason, the lion head symbol is also giving us a message of the pursuit of merit, brilliance, power, and bravery.

It is also pointing towards a good luck omen.

So, take the cues from the lion’s head that you witness and work hard towards your goals. Be stubborn in the way of hardships and defeat them with determination.

Good fortune is waiting for you.

Lion symbolism in literature

  • The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum has a lion character “Cowardly Lion”. He was embarrassed due to him being considered as the king of beasts, an evil portrayal.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia, a novel series by C.S. Lewis, depicts the main character Aslan, the “Great Lion”. He is an embodiment of wisdom, magic, and compassionate guidance for the visiting kids. He is the ultimate protector of Narnia.
  • In the Harry Potter series, by J.K. Rowling, the Gryffindor House has the symbol of the lion since the lion depicts bravery, courage, and nobility.

Consequently, your lion spirit is telling you about a variety of things that you must comprehend:

  • Evilness is always a reason for embarrassment and shame.
  • Learn to recognize your wise and kind guiding soul.
  • Handle every situation bravely and graciously.

What does a lion symbolize spiritually?

Lion comes to give us different guidance at different times. The guidance that a Lion gives could be one of those below:

  • Balance – you can be powerful and brave at the same time peaceful and relaxed. You can take care of your family and your community at the same time yourself.
  • Keeping the silence – be careful when to show your intentions and when not as well as when to speak up or remain silent.
  • Chase of goals – grasp the guidance to chase your goals with determination.
  • The courage that is coming from the heart- listen to your heart and be true to yourself.
  • Wisdom – rely on your wise and guiding self and benefit others.

What Does a Butterfly Spirit Animal Mean and Symbolise?

The Butterfly spirit animal has a lot of meanings, messages, and symbolism in different cultures throughout the world.

With a better understanding of these symbols and meanings, you can better interpret what the Butterfly spirit animal tells you.

Butterfly spirit animal would not come as a continuous power animal but as temporary guidance at an essential stage of personal development.

Below is the complete detail about the different aspects of the Butterfly spirit animal.

Still, do not forget that the Butterfly spirit animal’s messages are specific and unique for you. You are the one who will interpret.

What does the Butterfly spirit animal mean?

The Butterfly spirit animal symbolizes significant transformations in life, unexpected results, joy, and smartness.

Let’s look more in detail at the symbolic meanings in different cultures and occasions.

What do Butterflies mean symbolically?

Butterflies in most cultures symbolize a significant change in one’s life, a complete rebirth or transformation.

A Butterfly’s life is composed of phases: first, Butterflies are eggs that change into a caterpillar.

Then comes the long pupa stage; once it is finished, the final stage of the Butterfly life cycle happens, and it matures into a beautiful new creature.

The process of the spiritual transformation of humans is like the transformation of Butterflies.

It is almost as if Butterflies are there to remind us why we came to this world.

They must give up their previous shape to get their beautiful wings and become Butterfly.

The same goes for the person who wants to bring fundamental transformation into her life.

She will have to go through a similar process of transformation.

Without leaving your comfort zone, you cannot transform yourself, find your inner truth, and open your natural beauty.

What does it mean when a Butterfly crosses your path? What do random Butterflies mean?

When a Butterfly crosses your path, it can have various meanings, and you are the one who will interpret it.

So slow down for a while and reflect.

Ask yourself if the Butterfly is inviting you to take the path of transformation?

Or maybe you are already passing through a significant transformation. The Butterfly gently gives you joy and courage and reminds you that everything in life changes and life is made up of different phases.

You are the one who knows the real invitation and the guidance of this Butterfly.

So slow down, breathe, come to the moment, and gently ask yourself. Trust your inner guidance.

When a Butterfly visits your house, what does this mean?

A Butterfly visiting your house or even coming up on you can be an even more powerful message.

It could show you that the Butterfly is celebrating you for the transformation or maybe the soul of the loved one comes to visit you and support you.

Again, only you have the response, so with the guidance of this information, ask for the real meaning yourself.

Look at the meaning of the message inside you instead of outside.

Is a Butterfly spirit animal a symbol of death?

In Celtic belief, Butterflies were the souls who completed their life on the Earth, and people attached badges with the shape of Butterflies to their collars as an expression of respect to their ancestors.

When they saw a real Butterfly on a dead body, they believed that person was going directly to heaven.

During Samhain and Halloween, Celtic people extinguished and burned all the fires again as a symbol of refreshing and transformation, just like the symbol of Butterflies.

Therefore the name of the torch they used was called “Butterfly.”

It was strictly forbidden to kill a Butterfly in all ancient traditions because one would kill a living soul.

Is a Butterfly spirit animal a good sign?

The simple answer to this question is yes.

Butterflies are considered a sign of good luck.

Butterflies signify good luck, creativity, compassion, and freedom in most cultures.

A more complex answer would be that there is nothing such as good or bad in this world. Instead, it is the dance of both energies.

What does Butterfly spirit animal mean biblically?

In biblical terms, the Butterfly spirit animal refers to the resurrection or the life after death.

Butterflies are not expressedly found in Bible, whereas there is an excellent focus on transformation.

Below are some quotes from the Bible expressing this transformation.

“As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light.”

Matthew 17:2, NLT

“So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, raised in power. It is sown as a natural body, raised as a spiritual body. There is also a spiritual body if there is a natural body.”

1 Corinthians 15:42–44, ESV

Is a Butterfly spirit animal a sign of an angel?

According to the “Nature’s Winged Messengers, Butterflies are heaven-sent kisses of an angle.”

In the esoteric belief, we see the analogy that death is a beginning with the imagination of the cocoon period and exit from the cocoon, and the soul evolves by opening. This is partly why most religions’ angels are portrayed with wings.

Butterflies take our attention with their beauty, and angels can get their help to grab your attention so they can be a sign of an angel.

When you see a Butterfly, slow down and try to be aware of its message.

What does the Butterfly symbolize in literature?

In the book Alice in Wonderland (check here for the UK and here for the US), while Alice was walking around the forest, she came across Absolem, the old caterpillar representing wisdom.

She asks: “Who are you?”

Caterpillar responds: “I am not sure right now. This morning, I knew who I was, but I guess since I woke up, I changed several times.”

Transformations that confuse Alice do not surprise Absolem because transforming, changing, and being born again is the nature of the caterpillar.

There is another book called Papillon (Butterfly) by Henri Charriere (check here for the UK and here for the US). In this autobiographical novel, we find the story of his prison sentence for a crime he did not commit, escaping several times and being captured each time.

Finally inspired by the movements of the sea, he takes a final escape when he is sent to an island of cliffs with no means of escape.

Finally, he reaches Venezuela and takes refuge in this country.

All these phases change Charriere.

Finally, the Butterfly is free and ready to fly to a new place.

What do Butterflies represent spiritually? What is the spiritual meaning of Butterflies?

Even though the struggles it has gone through until it reaches beauty do not go out of our minds, the Butterfly has other meanings.

It reminds us that it is necessary to dance with the winds of life.

It emphasizes the importance of our choices for a conscious transformation.

The main idea of Butterfly symbolism is that no one phase of life will remain the same forever and that change strives with this awareness.

After each period of life- with particular goals for itself- when the wings open, completely different energy flows from these wings.

When we feel comfortable with this new identity, we start flying freely from flower to flower like a beautiful Butterfly, and the Butterfly completes its mission.

Meaning of Butterfly colors: What do different colors Butterflies symbolize?

Different colors of Butterflies represent different meanings, messages, or symbolism.

Let us look deeper.

What are the different colors of Butterflies?

Butterflies have many colors, including white, red, blue, pink, orange, yellow, and black.

Some Butterflies also have multiple colors and patterns of different colors carved on their wings.

According to the sayings, each Butterfly color represents a different meaning, message, or represents a different concept.

Yellow Butterfly

The yellow Butterfly is a symbol of joy, happiness, and creativity. The yellow Butterfly can come into your life to do more of what makes your soul happy.

The orange Butterfly is a symbol of courage, excitement, and passion. When you see an orange Butterfly, this can be an invitation to connect with the enthusiasm and love in your life.

White Butterfly

The White Butterfly is a symbol of spiritual change and personal transformation. White represents innocence.

When you see a white Butterfly, it can symbolize that you have a message from your spirit guides.

You can purify yourself and intend to connect with your spiritual guides. Also, white Butterflies remind you of the abundant energy that comes from the source.

Blue Butterfly

It indicates the need for change in time and that it is restricted for some reason.

These constraints are rather internal.

Like fear of change or thinking about what those around us will say…

Red Butterfly

It represents that there is no restriction for change. On the contrary, it symbolizes that the person is open to change.

What color Butterfly means death?

In most cultures, black Butterflies are a sign of death.

Apart from death, it also represents many other unfortunate events in someone’s life.

It also means tragedies and bad luck in many cultures.

Conclusion

Hopefully, the more you know about Butterflies’ symbolic and spiritual meaning, you will better understand why that specific Butterfly comes for you at that particular time.

Whenever you see an animal approaching, you get it as an invitation from an unseen world.

Reflect on these questions:

  • Is it time for you to start a new path of transformation?
  • Suppose you are already on a path of transformation at this specific moment. What wisdom do you need: embracing joy, remembering that everything is passing in life, surrendering, and dancing with what life brings?

Maybe you would consider making a shamanic journey and ask your power animal for some wisdom.

What is unique about an Owl?

  • Most of the Owls could fly in absolute silence at night.
  • Owls could see in the darkness without using the echolocation characteristic -a technique used by bats and dolphins to understand objects’ location using reflected sound.
  • Owls have a special ability to hear thanks to their asymmetric shape of both internal and external ears.
  • They can rotate their heads and necks as much as 270°. Owls have 14 neck vertebrae compared to seven in humans, making their necks more flexible.
  • Their plumage is also extraordinary. They can copy the color and even the patterns around them.
  • All these characteristics make Owls very hard to find, see, or hear, making it easy to catch their prey.

What is an Owl spirit animal a sign of?

Owls are a symbol of wisdom, secrecy, and mystery.

Is the Owl spirit animal a good omen?

In Mongolia, it is the symbol of a good omen.

It is told that one day Genghis Khan was hiding from his enemies under a tree one night.

On the tree, there was an Owl, which made the people think that he could not be there.

In Japan, it is believed that Owls bring good luck, so they are carried as a talisman or a charm.

The modern West associates the Owl with wisdom and being awake.

In ancient Greece, Owls were Athens’s symbols and the patron Goddess of Athens- Athena.

The Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth in Hindu mythology, is known to have a White Barn Owl as her vehicle, and an Owl is considered a symbol of wealth, prosperity, wisdom, good luck, and fortune.

Is the Owl spirit animal a sign of death?

In some African and Native American cultures, Owls have been the symbol and harbingers of death.

This death is not a physical one but more symbolic, the end of the old and the birth of the new.

The closing of a circle and the beginning of a new one.

What is the spiritual meaning of seeing an Owl?

The Owl symbolizes the feminine, the moon, and the night.

As it has the magical power of night Owl has a remarkable ability of intuition.

Owl spirit animal has the power of magic, darkness, and a high level of wisdom.

The wisdom of the Owl symbolizes the ability to see behind the veils, the actual meanings inside many meanings, and understand those symbols in your own deeper labyrinths.

When the Owls come to you as a spirit animals, begin to look for the subtle signs and trust your intuition.

The hoots of Owls resulted in a big fear of Owls in human history, and its symbol of death has been mostly understood as physical death.

In Shamanic belief, death is not physical but the end of all those properties, thoughts, emotions, ideas, and behaviors that do more harm than good to the person.

The fast-changing plumage of Owls is also a great symbol. Human beings have many different aspects; dark and bright, shadows and lights. As a spirit animal, Owl comes to show the harmony and the union of all these different faces.

When Owls want to look at something behind, they turn their head back, and their eyes do not move.

With their ability to fly in complete silence, they emphasize the importance of focusing on silence when they come on shamanic journeys as a spirit animals.

Owls have a remarkable ability to see and hear at night.

In Mayan culture, they are called the night eagle. This is because they have all the wisdom of the night.

For those who need wisdom at the time of change, for those who could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Owls would come with their guidance.

Owls would also come to uncover your unique abilities and gifts and to show you to trust your intuition more and discover your wisdom. Nighttime is especially important to find yourself, so maybe you can spend some time with your Owl spirit animal at night.

Nights are the lands of those things that we do not know or that we do not prefer to know.

Night symbolizes those places in our deeper selves where we have blocked our thoughts, emotions, and experiences that we do not want to remember.

Sometimes Owl would come to remind us that we begin to deceive and fool ourselves a lot and that it is time to get out the masks and face up with all those we left in deep.

Owls also come to oversensitive people, who can see the dark sides of the others, to show them that this is a gift and those who have this gift need compassion beside everything else.

Sometimes those who have Owls as spirit animals are quite different than others, unique people.

These people can live through challenging times to get acceptance from others.

At these times, Owl would come as a spirit animal to give guidance that one needs to choose to who she will be vulnerable.

Meaning of seeing an Owl in daylight or seeing an Owl at night

Seeing an Owl in daylight and at night could signify your meeting with your spirit animal.

This physical world is one of the many realities we have.

There are many layers of realities in our life. Shamanic journeys are one of them as well.

If you see an own in daylight or at night, be aware.

If you already make shamanic journeys, meet your spirit animal.

If you have never done it, maybe you can consider trying to start shamanic journeys.

You can read my story here.

Or you can read the symbolic meaning here and be aware of what your intuitions say to you.

Meaning of white Owl crossing your path

If an Owl is crossing your path, it means that your Owl spirit animal is trying to take your attention, so try to see the signs behind the curtains and ask your intuition what that means.

The best way to ask what that means is in the shamanic journeys.

Owl meaning in the Islam

According to the book Kamil Al Ziarat (check here for the UK and here for the US), on page 131 and Chapter 31, there is a story called ‘The Mourning of the Owls over Imam Hussain’.

Hussain Ibn Abu Ghundar narrates:

Imam Jafar Sadiq asked, “Have you ever seen an Owl during the day?”

The people replied, “No, it never appears in the day. It only comes out in the night.”

Imam said, “The Owls used to only live in developed structures, but when Hussain was martyred, they refused to stay in designed arrangements and only stayed in abandoned wrecks as their homes.

The Owls fast during the day and grieve until night falls. At night they cry in grief over Hussain until the morning.”

Owl meaning in the Bible

Owls have been mentioned various times in the Bible with different meanings as;

“I went mourning without the sun: I stood up and cried in the congregation. I am a brother to dragons and a companion to Owls.”

Crying & Mourning – Job 30:28–29

“I am like an Owl in the desert, like a lonely Owl in a far-off wilderness.”

Wild & Lonely – Psalms 102:6

The unclean meaning comes from the fact that Owls could eat already dead beings.

It is a “bird of prey” or a scavenger bird.

If it cannot track down a living creature like a rabbit or field mouse, it will feast on that which is already dead. That is why it is classified as “unclean” in Kosher laws.

On the other hand, loneliness and the feeling of grief is quite symbolic as well.

Owls are wild animals and unique.

They could instead be alone and always authentic.

Conclusion

Owl spirit animals symbolize mystery, magic, and inner wisdom.

If you are reading this, this is not any coincidence; as you already know, coincidence does not exist.

Trust your intuition, go on a shamanic journey, look for your spirit animal, connect to your inner wisdom and magic and let the Owl guide you during the journey.

Spirit Animal Fox Meaning, and Symbolism

Fox spirit animal symbolizes ingenuity, intuitiveness, grace, beauty, dishonesty, and superficiality. However, the real question is, what does the Fox spirit animal mean and symbolize for you?

I have prepared for you a comprehensive guide about the physical and symbolical characteristics of the spirit animal Fox. However, before digging into detail, let us answer some questions you may have.

What is a spirit animal?

Spirit animal is animal energy that is guiding you in your life journey. Maybe you have heard of them as spirit animals or Nagual, power animals or animal spirits. You can get more information about spirit animal’s meaning here.

What is a Native American spirit animal?

Native Americans see life as a web, where each being is strongly related. In this web, animals have the role of guiding human beings with their wisdom.

For centuries people have gotten guidance from animals.

They created a relationship with them and asked for advice, especially in their shamanic journeys or via messages in the exterior world.

You can read more about my shamanic journey experience here.

To understand the messages of their spirit animal, it has been essential to get as much information about these animals as possible.

As the animals’ symbolic meaning and physical characteristics are related, it is a good idea to get information about every aspect of your spirit animal.

Start to follow the traces of the signals.

What are the traits of a Fox?

Fox is an intelligent, cunning, and joyful animal.

They are quick, silent, patient, and have been drawn fearfully.

Is a Fox dangerous?

Foxes are often considered pests or nuisance creatures for their opportunistic attacks on poultry and other small livestock. However, Fox attacks on humans are not common.

How often do Foxes attack humans?

Fox presents no danger to humans unless they are rabid, rare, or if they are being captured or handled. Many Foxes adapt well to human environments.

Do Foxes eat babies?

So why is there a fear of Foxes attacking humans or eating babies?

Maybe it is coming from the mythologies and stories such as Teumessian Fox in ancient Greece.

The story tells that the god Dionysus sends a giant Fox as punishment to eat the children of Thebes.

To defend the children, Creon, the leader of Thebes, sends a dog with special powers to catch the giant Fox.

Zeus then intervenes and turns both animals into stone and throws them into the sky, where they become the constellations Canis Major and Canis Minor.

Can you raise a baby Fox as a pet?

There have been many cases of the domestication of the Foxes.

Even though Foxes are animals adapting to the human environment quite a lot compared to many others, they are still free spirits.

They leave the families that have been domesticated in many cases.

Fox Symbolism Celtic

I have found out a story about Celtic Fox and Brigid of Ireland, which also gives a lot of clues about the Fox symbolism for Celtics.

“In the Celtic tale, ‘Brigid and the Fox,’ Brigid of Ireland was known to be able to talk with the animals.

So Brigid went to intercede with the King of Leinster, who was preparing to take the life of the man who had accidentally killed his pet, Fox.

Brigid brought the king a little Fox and made the Fox do tricks to make the king happy.

Finally, she offered the king the Fox in exchange for the unfortunate prisoner’s life, and the king took the Fox to be his new pet.

But the Fox became unhappy living in the king’s castle without Brigid, and he escaped back to the woods.

The king’s men searched far and wide, but the little Fox could not be found again.

The Fox is always a wild creature – and can only be genuinely ‘tamed’ by Brigid.”

Are Foxes nocturnal?

Although primarily nocturnal, one can see Foxes in suburban or urban areas during the day, as they love to play.

Why do Foxes scream at night?

Foxes scream and bark to communicate with each other as a territory warning, and female Foxes will make loud noises when mating.

Ok, after answering the questions around properties about the Foxes, now it is time to go around the meaning and symbolism.

Spirit animal Fox meaning: what is Fox’s personality?

Many books, movies, and songs have been created about the Foxes during human history, meaning that Foxes are important in our collective consciousness.

This article called The Fox in World Literature: Reflections on a “Fictional Animal” by Hans-Jörg Uther gives an excellent summary of the different meanings of Fox for humans.

As mentioned in Wikipedia

“A Tswana riddle says that “Phokoje go tsela o dithetsenya [Only the muddy Fox lives], meaning that, in a philosophical sense, ‘only an active person who does not mind getting muddy gets to progress in life.’

The Fox is usually depicted as a cunning trickster in Finnish mythology but seldom evil.

The Fox, while weaker, in the end, outsmarts both the evil and greedy wolf and the solid but not-so-cunning bear.

It symbolizes the victory of intelligence over both malevolence and brute strength. In Northern Finland, the Fox is said to conjure the aurora borealis while it runs through the snowy hills.

When Fox’s fur touches the snow, it creates magical sparks and sets the sky ablaze.

Still today, the Finnish word for the aurora is “revontulet” which translates to “Fox-fires.”

What does a spirit animal Fox symbolize?

I want to share my teacher’s words about the Fox symbolism from her book, with you.

“Fox animal spirit guides you to know yourself better in all physical, mental, and spiritual angels.

It shows you can interpret other people and your relationships with them accurately.

Fox teaches us to decide and act quickly.

So it would come when you should insist on some decisions, you need to be brave in your actions, and when your observations need to be sharp.”

Sacred Guides in Shamanism, Nagual Symbolism by Ayşe Nilgün Arıt

Fox symbolism spiritual

Spirit animal Fox symbolizes being resourceful and open to innovation and creativity.

Foxes are clever and cunning animals.

When it is time to start new adventures, be creative, interpret better your relationships with others, and be gentle but at the same time quick, a Fox will come to you.

It would day you that you need bravery and sharp observation skills.

It is a balance of both masculine and feminine energies.

Therefore, if you lack feminine energies in life, your Fox spirit animal will give this balance to you.

In Chinese, Japanese, and Korean folklore, Foxes are potent spirits that often take on the form of female humans to seduce men.

This could be a symbol of this balance of masculine and feminine energies.

If you are having problems with your relationships Fox animal would come to you.

To say that, you need to learn to adapt without putting yourself forward and be patient with the high hiding ability of Foxes. You would learn to get what you want by being calm and silent.

Fox symbolism in literature

In Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, we meet with the guidance of the Fox animal.

Fox is showing what is essential in life and says to the little prince:

“It is only with the heart one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”

“The time you spent on your rose makes your rose so important.”

“He was only a Fox like a hundred thousand other Foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”

In this beautiful story, a Fox is the spirit animal telling the little prince that we are looking for far away, for what is in front of our eyes.

We do not know to listen, and as we do not learn how to love appropriately, we give importance to non-important things.

What does a wolf spirit animal mean?

Wolves leave as family and they choose their couple to be all their life together.

They take care of their children together as a couple.

Even though they live as perfectly organized herds, each wolf is a free spirit.

Wolves are strong and powerful, still, they prefer not to fight if they can prevent it.

They use their glance and sound to frighten their threat instead of fighting. This symbolizes the importance of protecting our energies and finding alternative ways instead of fighting.

Wolves use their body language extremely to express themselves.

When they are angry pull their ears straight and pluck their teeth out.

When skeptical, they pull their ears back and their eyes squint.

They stick their ears to their heads when they’re scared.

When they want to play, they dance and bend their heads playfully.

What wolf symbolizes?

Social values, connection with nature via rituals, intuition, family, loyalty, spiritual power, and intelligence are the main symbols of a wolf.

Especially at the time of change, wolves show how to succeed easily.

Wolves give us a lot of wisdom about leadership if we can look in detail at how they get organized.

In a herd, at the front, walks 3 most ill wolves, in case there is a threat they prefer to serve their community by informing and also to open the way for those who follow.

Beside them goes the 5 most experienced warriors. In the middle beside the warriors walk 11 she-wolves, so having good protection.

Besides she-wolves, there are another 5 warriors.

Behind all, comes the leader of the herd, seeing all the herd together.

This symbolizes to us that leadership is not about walking in front but walking most correctly. Leadership is a dance in a community, more than a one-person game.

Wolf’s howl is a special one, coming from the source, and is immensely powerful.

That is how the wolves find their tribe and show their boundaries to those who are not from their tribe.

If you hear a howl in your shamanic journey, this could be a symbol to protect your limits and set more boundaries.

What is a wolf personality?

Wolves hunt in droves and can travel 90 kilometers per day.

They are durable and strong.

When wolves come into your life, they could remind you of the importance of empowering yourself and patience, and protecting yourself.

They are incredibly careful animals.

Even in a herd, there are 40 wolves, while you track the footprints you would see 4-5 animal traces, showing that they are very organized and paying special attention to details.

What does a lone wolf symbolize?

Wolves are animals who travel both with herds and alone.

They are great with socializing, loyalty, and being part of a community as well as having their freedom.

According to how you see the wolf-alone or with the group- the symbol of the spirit animal can vary.

A lone wolf is an alone explorer who is freely going around on adventures and coming back to explain all to its community.

So, if a wolve came to your shamanic journey, maybe is telling you that you are a good thinker and teacher.

If not, maybe showing you to be open to new ideas and concepts.

Lone wolves are showing us the importance of being alone to make discoveries about one’s self.

This does not mean being alone all the time. There could be a balance.

Wolves are great family animals and at the same time free spirits. They are coming to show this balance to us.

You can hear the howl of the wolves at night because the night is silent.

Even though night can be fearful for some, it is that time when you have your dreams to connect with your deeper truth.

Wolves are great teachers to find this balance of aloneness and community life to be in the harmony with life.

Wolf symbolism in folklore, religion, and mythology

When one looks to the wolves in folklore, religion, and mythology, one can see different stories as both sides of the coin.

Wolf’s predator nature, and strong physical character, made him the symbol of both the warrior and the devil at the same time.

The popular culture’s wolf symbolism has been affected mostly by the devil side, which is a picture lacking the big information about the collective history of humanity.

The wolf had been a great sacred animal especially for the nomadic people of the Eurasian steppe and North American Plains.

Turkic legends about wolves

Wolves are the most respected animals for the Turkic nomadic cultures of Eurasian steppes.

There are 2 important legends.

One is the Asena legend, where it talks about a little Turkic village in the north part of the Chinese country.

The soldiers killed all the people in the village except a baby.

The baby’s life had been saved by an old she-wolf with a sky-blue mane named Asena.

The she-wolf found this baby, gave milk and life to him then this she-wolf gave birth to half-human half-wolf creations, which Turkish legend says were the origins of Turkish people.

The next legend is about a grey wolf showing the Turkish tribe the way out of their legendary homeland Ergenekon.

What does Wolf mean in Native American?

Many Native American tribes credit the actual creator of the earth to be a wolf.

For Native American people, it is believed that wolves show humans how to connect with the deeper parts of one’s soul and empower intuition.

Remember the image of the wolf howling under the moonlight. A beautiful connection with nature via rituals.

She-wolf symbol also in Roman Mythology

The Capitoline Wolf is a bronze sculpture depicting a scene from the legend of the founding of Rome.

The legend of the founding of Rome says that a she-wolf saved the lives of Romulus and Remus, twin brothers, sons of Mars, and founder of Rome.

Twin brothers were ordered by the servant to be killed by their great uncle but then the servant had pity on them and let the twins just near a river.

A flood happened and the river took the twins gently downstream, then they were adopted by a she-wolf called Lupa an animal sacred to Mars.

Besides these she-wolf symbols as the protector and the creator, there is another symbol of a wolf in human history.

Who is the wolf god?

According to Brittanica, the wolf god is Fenrir.

“Fenrir also called Fenrisúlfr, monstrous wolf of Norse mythology.

He was the son of the demoniac god Loki and a giantess, Angerboda.

Fearing Fenrir’s strength and knowing that only evil could be expected of him, the gods bound him with a magical chain made of the sound of a cat’s footsteps, the beard of a woman, the breath of fish, and other occult elements.

When the chain was placed upon him, Fenrir bit off the hand of the god Tyr.

He was gagged with a sword and was destined to lie bound to a rock until the Ragnarök (Doomsday) when he will break his bonds and fall upon the gods”.

What does the Bible say about wolves?

There are quite a lot of verses in the Bible about the wolves, just 2 examples below:

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food.

They will do no evil or harm in all My holy mountain,” says the Lord.

What does a wolf represent in the Bible?

Jesus being a shepherd and wolf being the main symbolic animal for Romans, the wolves were symbolized with their liar and devil character in Bible.

When one looks at modern folklore, literature, and popular culture one can see that the Norse mythology and the Christian symbol are almost accepted as the only character of wolves with the Big Bad Wolf stereotype from Aesop’s Fables and Grimm’s Fairy Tales.

Conclusion

It is a hard question to answer: What does a wolf spirit animal mean and symbolize?

Can one really answer this?

I am not sure but at least one can intent with humbleness and be aware that one can just see and know as much as her perception.

And human perception is limited.

Still, guidance is there all around us.

One can be aware of that, slow down and practice continuously getting this guidance from all creations in the web of life.

Slow down, be aware, realize your connection and relationship with all beings in this life.

Ask for guidance and know that you will receive it.

When you receive, trust your intuition.

Spirit Animal Meditation

What spirit animal am I?

Maybe you are asking yourself this question for a while. I will tell you how I have found my spirit animal and would suggest to you some other ways to find yours.

I want to remind you of something important as well.

As in all spiritual practices, the meaning is more important than the format and shape.

Connection and relationships are the way to deepen things.

Finding your spirit animal is not a pure exercise that you will do once and that is it.

It is an entrance to a world maybe with different perceptions that you have so far.

Your open mind and open-hearth and your humbleness will be the most important characteristics that you would need in this journey.

How did I find my spirit animal?

I found my spirit animal via a shamanic journey that I have done.

Years ago, I went to a shamanic journey gathering, where a Shaman explained to us the Shamanic belief system.

Then we made a shamanic journey there together with her and we all went to our houses.

In the upcoming months, I made a shamanic journey around twice a week and my intention was each time the same: to find and meet my spirit animal.

It took a lot of months for me.

Then I have realized that one of the reasons for taking so many times was not believing full-heartedly in the messages that I was receiving.

I was even guided to go downstairs to the room of my children peek a book there and put my altar, wherein the book there was my spirit animal.

I remember my reaction to this: Oh man, this could not be true, no?

You can read about the whole story here.

Once I found and met my spirit animal in my shamanic journey without any doubt anymore then I have remembered that I found it some years ago in a spirit animal meditation to find your spirit animal that a friend guided.

Again, I reacted in the same way, oh man, this could not be true, no?

There is a belief inside me that to succeed in things in any reality, I think there is a belief that I have learned saying again and again that it needs to be hard.

Somehow, I need to earn that.

I am writing to let you know – and to let me know- that it does not need to be that way.

Spiritual life is simple.

The simplest ways are the most healing ones.

Our spirit animals are there guiding us during all our life even we see them or not.

So before starting with the intention of finding and meeting your spirit animal, repeat to yourself that it can be easy to find your spirit animal.

Leave your doubts in a separate room and trust your intuition.

Because I will tell you some other ways than doing a shamanic journey to find your spirit animal.

How to find your spirit animal?

If you already know about shamanic journeys, it is the best way to build up a relationship with your spirit animal via shamanic journeys. Y

ou can read the details about my shamanic journey experience here.

If you do not have any idea about shamanic journeys and still would like to meet with your spirit animal, I wanted to give you a meditation here, so you can try.

Those who are already meditating would find it easier to connect.

You can do this meditation outside in nature or at home.

You can even see that some animals are approaching you or watching you during the meditation if you are in a place, out in nature.

Spirit animal meditation

I will share with you a spirit animal meditation from the book of my teacher; Ayşe Nilgün Arıt, Sacred Guides in Shamanism, Nagual Symbolism (Şamanizmde Kutsal Rehberler, Nagual Sembolizmi)

  • Choose a place where you will feel relaxed and calm.
  • Before starting with the spirit animal meditation, you can meditate in the way that you are already accustomed to, so you can relax and be more receptive.
  • You can take a half precious stone or any stone to your hand or put near you some objects that are valuable to you.
  • If it is possible, you can put some relaxing meditative music.
  • After some deep breaths and feeling that your mind and body are relaxed than you can sit in an upright position or lie down.
  • Imagine that the leaves are passing slowly in a river, on the water. As these leaves pass so your ideas and thoughts in your mind.
  • Once you focus on your breath and you realize that your mind is relaxed you can say your intention as you wish: “I intend to meet with my spirit animal.”
  • Now, direct your senses to the flowing water, listen to the sound of water, see the water surface rippling, feel how refreshing the water is.
  • While you are seeing the purity and clarity of the water flowing in the stream, in your heart, be aware if you hear any sound. Footsteps, whispers, or any other sound?
  • Maybe something is watching you?
  • Remember your spirit animals can be in any size even tiny ones. Be aware with your inner eye, while sensing the river, wait a little while. Spirit animals have a lot of patience and your spirit animal will come at the correct time.
  • Observe if there is any animal close or far away. Maybe you see something and then it disappears. Or maybe after stopping for a while coming closer to you. Maybe will give its message to you or maybe just a little contact and that is it. Maybe you can feel the breath and touch its leather and feathers.
  • Your spirit animal is aware of your feeling. If you are not feeling comfortable right now your spirit animal will not be in contact with you until the end of the meditation.
  • Your experience will depend on how relaxed, calm, and willing you feel. So, take a deep breath.
  • Whatever your experience is, it is exactly the one that you need. From your deep inside say thanks to your spirit animal.
  • Gently come back and start to feel your body. When you are ready open your eyes.

Questions to find your spirit animal

These questions below could also help you to find your spirit animal

  1. When you were a kid, which animals took your attention?
  2. When you are in nature which animals you meet?
  3. Without making any deeper investigation, which animal do you think would represent you?

Responding to these questions could help you or not.

In my case, my spirit animal does not have anything to do with these questions.

It is a mythological animal, so I could not meet with my spirit animal in the physical world.

The world that your spirit animals are inviting you are not just finding your spirit animal and asking some questions and getting your responses and that is it.

It is more than that. Intending to find your spirit animal, you are entering the shamanic world perception.

In this belief system, there is a web of life. In this web of life, all creations have their wisdom and roles.

Animals’ roles are being an example to humanity and guiding humans with their wisdom.

You can find more about what spirit animal is and Native American spirit animal kinds here

Once you feel comfortable and willing to meet with your spirit animal, you can start to make little exercises to open your senses to the unseen world.

Little exercise to open your senses

In the middle of the day, you can slow down and ask yourself:

  • How do I feel both emotionally and physically?
  • How are my thoughts right now? Is my mind chaotic or calm?
  • What do I see?
  • How it smells?
  • What are the sounds around? Silence or any specific sound?
  • How does it feel the touch of anything you touch?
  • What is the taste of my mouth? How does it taste the thing I eat?

Conclusion

In the shamanic world which includes spirit animals, there are many layers of realities.

This physical world is a reality as well as the shamanic journeys. Many realities exist at the same time.

The more you become comfortable with seeing and feeling another reality behind the veils, it will be easier and more comfortable to create a relationship with your spirit animal.

You will begin to trust your intuition which means at the end of the day trusting that you are your own magic.

So, start and try this spirit animal meditation. If you cannot see for the first time, have patience, and try again. Trust the timing of the universe.

What Is the Meaning of a Spirit Animal?

Have you ever heard of spirit animals? How do these two words spirit, and animal come together?

Animals have always been important for human beings.

In human collective history, in stories and mythologies, we always find the emphasis on the different characteristics of different animals.

It is like we always knew that there were a deep connection and subtle communication between animal and human kingdom.

Jung also emphasized this connection between animal and human by mentioning that the word animal is coming from Latin- “anima”, which means the spirit or the breath of life.

This connection made him call the concepts of masculine and feminine – animus and anima and he mentioned that these concepts are the passage doors between our real identities and collective consciousness. *

So, what is a spirit animal?

What are its origins?

What are the synonyms of spirit animals?

Spirit Animal meaning?

Spirit animals are our guides to support humans in this life journey.

They are animal energies to guide us and be our teachers in the process of empowering our intuitions.

Spirit animals are helping us to be in alignment with the universe and with our true selves.

In the Shamanic belief system, it is believed that each of us is born with our main spirit animal to support us in our life journey.

We can get any guidance by clarifying our intentions to our spirit animals and they are here to support us.

Spirit animal synonym

Besides spirit animals, maybe you have also heard about power animals, animal guides, or Nagual.

They are all talking about the same concept.

Spirit animal origin

It is hard to know the origins of the spirit animals.

In the sacred geometry books of Drunvalo Melchizedek, I have read about those civilizations where human beings were able to know all the knowledge of ever.

Knowledge of the collective conscious was available to everybody.

That is why they did not need any writing, as it was not necessary.

Everybody knew everything when they needed it.

I mean this blow away my mind.

Can you imagine the possibility of this?

This idea-even true or not- opened my mind and make it possible for me to think about different ideas.

Why I am telling is that animals exist in mythologies and stories which are as old as human history.

I believe in those old times, when human beings were more in contact with nature, they were open to communication with animals.

Think about children, the animal kingdom is the first kingdom that children begin to create deep connections and interests.

I could say that the spirit animal’s origin is as old as human history.

Moreover, when Mircea Eliade go around the world for his anthropologic studies, he found out that all around the world, people had common rituals, ceremonies, and symbols even though they have never connected physically.

Spirit animal rituals were one of these rituals as well.

What is a spirit animal in Native American culture?

In Native American culture, every being is the creation of the Creator and has the same importance and is part of the same life web.

So, humans do not underestimate other creations or judge them.

They respect.

They believe that each living being has a source of wisdom and that it is in the world to provide this wisdom and that animals are here to present their wisdom to human beings and animals have been created to be an example and give some lessons to humans.

Spirit animals are believed that they have healing powers and light the way of the person with their inspiring wisdom.

It is also believed that not only everyone has their spirit animal but also the villages or families do have a collective one and they serve for the common intentions.

This Nagual is called for common ceremonies and people wear their costumes and participate in special dances and put their masks on them. **

In Mayan culture, there are 4 types of spirit animals

#1. The spirit animals that will guide you all your life

We are all born with the spirit animal that will guide us in all our life journeys.

It is up to us to ask for guidance and be aware of the signals that this spirit animal is showing to us.

We can ask any question that we want to this spirit animal of ours. It is recommended to ask at most 2 questions per week.

We can ask questions more related to our physical world or deeper ones about our spiritual journeys.

Their guidance is there to support us.

#2. The spirit animals that come to you for a period

In our life journey, an additional spirit animal can come to you to support you with some specific areas of your life when they feel like you need guidance.

They will be separate from your lifetime spirit animal.

They will give their support to you for the time that you need and then once you receive that lecture from them, they will leave.

#3. The spirit animals that is the messenger of your shadow

Sometimes you can have the guidance of a spirit animal which could be from an animal that you have prejudice-maybe you cannot look at, or it gives you the feeling of disgust.

When this power animal comes to your shamanic journeys, you need to be ready to face your shadows-meaning, not the parts of you in the mirror that triggers, no.

Those parts of you that are totally in shadow that you are not aware of at all.

#4. The spirit animals in the physical world

Animals in the physical world can come to you with messages.

Especially if you are not doing shamanic journeys for a long time and if your spirit animal wants to give a message to you, an animal’s attention-grabbing reaction in the physical world can be a reminder and invitation for you to do a shamanic journey.

How one can get guidance from a spirit animal?

There can be different ways of getting help from your spirit animal.

For me, the place where I meet with my spirit animal is via shamanic journeys.

Whenever I feel like I want to meet and get the guidance of my spirit animal, I do a shamanic journey with a clear intention and there in the journey, I meet with my spirit animal, ask my questions, and receive my answer many of the times quite symbolically.

On the other hand, I would like to emphasize that once you find your spirit animal and begin to get the guidance, you begin to understand that your spirit animal is not just a character there for you that you continuously ask for things.

Yes, they are indeed ready to support you whenever you need it.

What I try to say is that you create a relationship with them.

They become one of those characters in your life that you know you can count for always.

The relationship is not anymore receiving but somehow the balance of giving and receiving.

The more you meet with them, the more you begin to love them.

You begin to feel gratitude for all the support and meanwhile, you feel surprised with how much they can know about you.

In the beginning, it was hard for me to believe full-heartedly in all those things that my spirit animal told me or showed me.

I was writing all those experiences to my shamanic journey notebook and then realizing that all those images that I have been shown, incredibly powerful, way beyond my simple imaginations.

Conclusion

So, this is a journey.

Even you met with your spirit animal or not, they are there to support you and they are supporting you anyway.

The difference between creating a relationship with your spirit animal is that once you talk to them and ask questions and help then they can guide you better and you can interpret and understand their metaphoric and symbolic signs much better and reach your desires easily.

Always remember.

Universe has our back. It is supporting us with all those guides. It is up to us to be aware and receive that guidance.
