Can Your Spirit Animal Change Over Time?

I have been making my shamanic journeys with my spirit animal, and then suddenly, I have begun to see another spirit animal. But wait a minute, “can your spirit animal change?” was my question.

Yes, your spirit animal can change over time depending on what spirit animal type we are talking about.

Ok, let’s dive deep to explore this question. Are you joining?

How many spirit animals can you have?

In Mayan culture, there are four types of spirit animals. The spirit animals that;

  1. will guide you all your life
  2. come to you for a period
  3. is the messenger of your shadow
  4. are in the physical world

The number one, the spirit animal that will guide you all your life is, in most cases, just one. That spirit animal would be with you all your life.

Your lifelong spirit animal would rarely change.

However, you can have more spirit animals such as seasonal spirit animals that bring messages or seasonal spirit animals for choice or Shadow spirit animals or Spirit animals in the physical world.

These spirit animals would come temporarily to your life.

You can read more about these different kinds of spirit animals here and here

How many spirit animals can you have at once?

Even though you can have one spirit animal that will guide you during your journey, you can have more spirit animals at a specific time according to your needs.

I do not have a fixed number about that, and I am not sure if anybody can give that.

Just before a significant life event in my life, I had three spirit animals at once.

One was the spirit animal that guided me all my life.

The next one was a spirit animal that I saw in physical life.

Then, lastly, I had a messenger spirit animal that joined five shamanic journeys during that period and then disappeared.

How many different spirit animals are there?

In Native American Vault website, it says that;

“Native American tradition provides that each individual is associated with nine different animals that will complement each person through life, acting as guides.”

This is the only information I could find about this question.

Are spirit animals Native American culture?

Spirit animals come from Native American culture, whereas Shamanism has been used in all different ancient cultures worldwide.

I am not sure if the term “spirit animal” existed in different shamanic beliefs.

The only information that I could find was about “fylgja.”

According to Wikipedia:

In Norse mythology, a fylgja is a supernatural being or spirit which accompanies a person in connection to their fate or fortune.

Alternative to spirit animal

Alternatively to the spirit animal, there are other synonyms. Or other guides are supporting you in your life journey.

Animal spirit vs. human spirit

In our life journey, we are not alone. Different spirits are supporting us.

Especially those human spirits who have walked the same path and reached union with God are supporting us in this journey.

I have written more about this here.

Spirit animal vs. totem animal

Are spirit animals and totems the same?

Even though spirit animals and totems are very similar, there is a slight difference between them.

What are spirit animal totems?

Let’s look at the difference of the spirit animal and totem via the explanations in different books by various writers:

Skye Alexander, The Secret Power of Spirit Animal

“You’ve probably heard of “totems.”

The term refers to an animal, bird, reptile, fish, or insect with which you feel a strong and perhaps inexplicable affinity.

A totem is your primary spirit animal guardian or the guardian of your family or group.

Some indigenous tribes in North America carved totem poles depicting the various animals that protected their people and brought blessings to them.

Archeologists have discovered animal figurines buried in tombs around the world, perhaps placed there to guide human souls into the spirit realm.”

Steven Farmer, Pocket Guide to Spirit Animals

“The term totem animal has two meanings. First, a totem animal is typically shared by a family, clan, or group.

In many indigenous cultures, the family you were born into will have a totem animal in common.

In modern societies, various groups also have communal totems, such as sports teams or clubs that identify with a totem animal.

The second meaning of totem animal is a symbolic object of a particular animal, such as the small wolf, tortoise, raccoon, and hawk glass figures I mentioned earlier sitting by my computer.

We often give our children totem animals, such as teddy bears or bunny rabbits to give them comfort.”

Ayşe Nilgün Arıt, Sacred Guides in Shamanism

“Spirit animals are expressions of animal energies that will be guided and taught in strengthening intuition. They are considered to shed light on people with their healing powers and inspiring wisdom.

The word Totem, which has a similar meaning, was borrowed from the indigenous peoples of North America and Canada, the Anishinaabes and Ojibwes, from the words “odoodeman” and “oto-te-man,” meaning blood ties, kinship.

Alternative to saying spirit animal: synonym for spirit animal

Spirit animal vs. animal spirit

Instead of the animal spirit, we use spirit animals. As spirit animals are spirits in the animal form.

Spirit animal vs. spirit guide

You can use both the terms spirit animal and spirit guide.

Spirit animal vs. alebrije

Spirit animal and alebrije were unrelated terms, whereas somehow they have been connected.

First, let’s look at what alebrije is:

Here is the story of alebrije according to WhaleBone magazine;

“When Pedro Linares woke from a fever dream, seemingly terrifying creatures followed him back from his sleep.

In the dream, the fantastical beasts formed in the dark wilderness, and he could hear them chattering and chanting on word over and over: “alebrije…alebrije…alebrije.”

At first, he found them threatening, then later, as his illness cleared, he began to believe the mystical animals came to protect him and helped make him healthy again.

The Oaxacan artist rendered the visions in paper mâché, though his first attempts were too frightening for most; he then developed the extravagantly colored and more whimsical alebrije in the late 1930s that went on to become a folk art tradition.

Linares beasts crossed into the art world when they caught the attention of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera who commissioned him to create alebrijes for them.”

Afterward, alebrijes were presented as spirit animals with vibrant colors in the popular Pixar film “Coco.”

Spirit animal vs. power animal

You can use power animal and spirit animal interchangeably.

Steven farmer and spiritanimal.info say that there are slight differences.

What is a power animal?

Let’s look at what they say;

According to Steven Farmer in Pocket Guide to Spirit Animals

“The term power animal has its origins in Shamanism.

This is a specialized animal spirit guide that shamans or shamanic practitioners acquire early in their initiation into their practice.

Their power animal travels with them whenever they go on a shamanic journey, which is an altered state of awareness where the practitioner sends their soul or consciousness into non-ordinary reality—a shamanic term for the spirit world —to receive teachings, guidance, and healings.”

According to spiritanimal.info;

“Spirit animals are typically associated with traditional as well as modern Western shamanic practices.

During initiations or shamanic journeys, the shaman would find one or several animals that she or another person is associated with.

Traditionally, the spirit animal is used for guidance.

Think of your spirit animal as a guardian spirit or spirit guide. It can play the role of protector and provide guidance.

It’s like a “personal guide or protector” with a personal affinity with the person it’s associated with.

Whereas power animals are;

In addition, the spirit of the animal could unite with the person it “chose” in more personal ways, and one will often find similarities in traits of personality, characteristics, and synchronicity between the two.

As such, the power or essence of the animal can be felt or communicated.

In that sense, spirit animals can also be referred to as “power animals.”

Can a spirit animal be an insect?

Again in the book of Steven Farmer, I have seen such a description about insects:

“Although every creature on the planet can be an animal spirit guide, in most shamanic traditions, domesticated animals can’t be power animals because they’ve lost much of their wildness and are removed from the natural world.

Likewise, some traditions believe that insects are to be excluded from being power animals because of their size and nature.”

Conclusion

Your lifelong spirit animal will probably be there with you in your shamanic journeys and will not change all your life.

Maybe sometimes, you will meet with some additional spirit animals lighting your way.

We are talking about a real adventure, my friend. So come with an open mind and open heart.

And wander around.

The Symbolism of Phoenix: Simurgh vs. Phoenix

My spirit animal is a phoenix.

I call him anqa, and the analog motif I like most is the Simurgh between all because of my connection to my land.

If you have never heard the legend of Simurgh, come closer and drink this story and let it sink into your inner self.

Then witness what its message for you is.

If you are interested in phoenix, then this article would get your interest as well. So feel free to enjoy:

What is the ultimate meaning of the Simurgh?

Simurgh is related to the phoenix in Persian culture.

It is known as Anka or Zumrudu Anka in those cultures that are being affected by Islam.

It is a massive creature with the feather of peacock, Lion claw, head of a dog, and wings.

Sometimes it is also described with the face of a human.

The Simurgh (also spelled Simoorg, Simorq, Simourv, Simorgh, or Simorg) means thirty birds in the Persian language (‘si’ representing thirty and ‘murgh’ meaning birds).

This bird is so old that it has all the information of all ages and has seen the destruction of the Earth three times.

Simurgh was able to think and speak like a human and was very wise.

He was giving consultancy to kings.

According to legends, he was living on the top of the Qaf mountain. Mount Qaf is a legendary mountain in the popular mythology of the Middle East.

In Islamic tradition, Mount Qaf is the homeland of the jinn and was made out of shining emerald by God.

He lived in a mansion-like nest with poles made of ebony, sandalwood, and gall.

It was so big that the sky was getting dark when he was flying, and it looked like a vast cloud.

The Simurgh was purifying the land and waters and hence bestowed fertility.

The creature represented the union between the Earth and the sky, serving as a mediator and messenger.

The Simurgh roosted in Gaokerena, the Hōm (Avestan: Haoma) Tree of Life, which stands in the middle of the world sea (Vourukasha).

The plant is potent medicine and is called all-healing, and the seeds of all plants deposit on it.

When the Simurgh took flight, the leaves of the tree of life shook, making all the seeds of every plant fall out.

These seeds floated around the world on the winds of Vayu-Vata and the rains of Tishtrya, in cosmology taking root to become every type of plant that ever lived and curing all the illnesses of humanity.

What does Simurgh represent and symbolize?

Simorgh symbolizes the God in the Sufi poem Ferîdüddîn-i Attâr’s work; Mantiq-al-Tayr (The Conference of the Birds).

It symbolized abstinent in the epic Shahnameh.

Who wrote the story of Simurgh?

Sufi poem Ferîdüddîn-i Attâr’s wrote the story of Simurgh in Mantiq-al-Tayr (The Conference of the Birds).

Simorgh also plays a vital role in the verse epic Shahnameh, which contains the stories of Iranian kings and heroes.

What is the story behind the Phoenix Simurgh in the verse epic Shahnameh?

When Zal was born with white hair, his father was afraid, thinking it would bring bad luck.

So he left the baby alone outside.

Simurgh saved the kid and took care of him.

When he grew, he became a hero, and Simorgh brought him back to his father to unite.

When he was leaving, Simorgh gave one of his feathers to Zal, saying that he just needed to burn it when he needed help so that Simorgh would come back.

Years later, when Zal needed help for his wife, he burned the feather, and Simurgh came and helped his wife give birth.

It symbolized abstinent.

What is the conference of the birds about?

Conference of birds is a Persian Simurgh poem by Sufi poet Faridud-Din Attar, commonly known as Attar of Nishapur.

The title is taken directly from the Qur’an, 27:16, where Sulayman (Solomon) and Dāwūd (David) are said to have been taught the language, or speech, of the birds (manṭiq al-ṭayr).

The conference of the birds summary: What happens in the conference of the birds?

Simurgh, which was reborn from its ashes by burning in its fire, lived in the branches of the Tree of Knowledge and knew everything.

Birds believe in Simurgh and think that he will save them.

They believe that Simurghwill finds a solution to everything that goes wrong.

However, as long as Simurghdid not appear, the birds stopped waiting and finally gave up hope.

One day, a flock of birds found a feather from Simurgh’s wing and called to other birds.

All the birds in the world who heard the call and believed that Simurgh existed gathered together.

Together, they decided to go before him and ask for help in the guidance of the bird Hudhud (hoopoe), the king of the birds.

Hudhud was, according to the Quran, the messenger, and envoy of the Prophet Sulayman.

The birds set out to seek Simurg under Hudhud’s guidance.

But over time, they got tired and started to make excuses for Hudhud. Hudhud gave correct and convincing answers to all of them and explained the extraordinary features and beauties of Simurgh.

However, Simurgh’s home was on top of Mount Qaf.

Moreover, to get there, it was necessary to cross seven different valleys, each more difficult than the other, with a different emotion hidden in each.

The birds started their journey by flying towards the sky together.

Those with little will and determination poured out on the road one by one.

Some got tired, fell, and gave up while passing through the valleys.

First, nightingale remembered rose’s love for him and said, “If she gets sad, I will die,” and he returned from her longing.

However, his longing for the rose would never end.

The parrot said, “I have gorgeous feathers. Flying this much makes them old; I can’t help my feathers,” and stopped flying.

And because of their beautiful feathers, they were always kept in cages and spent their lives in cells.

The eagle could not leave his kingdom on high.

The owl missed its ruins.

The heron bird missed its swamp.

In each valley, a trap of emotion discouraged some birds from the journey, and they returned.

As they flew over the valleys, the number of birds gradually decreased. Finally, when they reached Mount Qaf, thirty birds remained.

They looked; neither the Tree of Knowledge nor Simurgh were there.

They understood that the real journey was a journey to oneself.

The savior wise bird was the bird that crossed these seven valleys, and they understood that;

Each one is a Simurgh!

What are the seven valleys in Conference of the Birds?

In Sholeh Wolpé’s translation of the conference of the birds, these seven valleys are as such:

1. Valley of the Quest, where the Wayfarer begins by casting aside all dogma, belief, and unbelief.

2. Valley of Love, where reason is abandoned for the sake of love.

3. Valley of Knowledge, where worldly knowledge becomes utterly useless.

4. Valley of Detachment, where all desires and attachments to the world are given up. Here, what is assumed to be “reality” vanishes.

5. Valley of Unity, where the Wayfarer realizes that everything is connected and that the Beloved is beyond everything, including harmony, diversity, and eternity.

6. Valley of Wonderment, where, entranced by the beauty of the Beloved, the Wayfarer becomes perplexed and, steeped in awe, finds that they have never known or understood anything.

7. Valley of Poverty and Annihilation, where the self disappears into the universe, and the Wayfarer becomes timeless, existing in the past and the future.

The Conference of the birds quotes

“If Simorgh unveils its face to you, you will find

that all the birds, be they thirty or forty or more,

are but the shadows cast by that unveiling.

What shadow is ever separated from its maker?

Do you see?

The shadow and its makers are the same,

so get over surfaces and delve into mysteries”

“The Beginning is lost;

the End stretches into eternity.

Don’t bother with them, they’re all irrelevant.

And since all is really nothing,

then nothing is; indeed everything.”

“When they had understood the hoopoe’s words,

A clamor of complaint rose from the birds:

‘Although we recognize you as our guide,

You must accept – it cannot be denied –

We are a wretched, flimsy crew at best,

And lack the bare essentials for this quest.

Our feathers and our wings, our bodies’ strength

Are quite unequal to the journey’s length;

For one of us to reach the Simorgh’s throne

Would be miraculous, a thing unknown.

[…] He seems like Solomon, and we like ants;

How can mere ants climb from their darkened pit

Up to the Simorgh’s realm? And is it fit

That beggars try the glory of a king?

However, could they manage such a thing?’

The hoopoe answered them: ‘How can love thrive

in hearts impoverished and half alive?

“Beggars,” you say – such niggling poverty

Will not encourage truth or charity.

A man whose eyes love opens risks his soul –

His dancing breaks beyond the mind’s control.

[…] Your heart is not a mirror-bright and clear

If there the Simorgh’s form does not appear;

No one can bear His beauty face to face,

And for this reason, of His perfect grace,

He makes a mirror in our hearts – look there

To see Him, search your hearts with anxious care.”

“It was in China, late one moonless night,

The Simorgh first appeared to mortal sight –

He let a feather float down through the air,

And rumors of its fame spread everywhere…”

What is the message of the Conference of the Birds?

The hoopoe, the guiding bird in “The Conference of the Birds,” symbolizes a Sufi mentor, and the valleys represent the spiritual levels that the Sufi is supposed to pass through.

Each of the other birds represents various human characteristics.

For example, the nightingale represents someone who is possessed by worldly things and forgets their creator.

The parrot clings to worldly goods in fear of death.

The peacock is obsessed with the piece and misses the whole.

The partridge cannot reach its main goal due to its worldly ambitions.

Moreover, the story shows us that the actual journey is the journey to oneself.

Simurgh is somehow symbolized with God, and where one can find God is in the heart of its own.

As the hadith shows us:

“I did not fit in the universe, in the sky, but the heart of the believer.”

Hadith

Conclusion

It is hard to explain what Simurgh means or the message of the conference of birds.

Because there is never one.

When you read them, be aware of the coincidences around you.

Today I joined a group reading Fusus al-Hikam from Ibn Arabi, and there a sentence from the chapter “of the sublime wisdom in the world of Ismael” just reminded me of Simurgh:

“Know that He who is called Allah is One in the Essence and all by his names, and all conditioned being is only attached (as such) to God by his own Lord (Rabb) exclusively: for its impossible that the totality (of the names of the divine aspects) correspond to a particular being. “

Fusus al-Hikam, Ibn Arabi

That is why Simurgh represents 30 birds, maybe.

Life is a journey of getting closer to the One until there is no anything called One anymore.

Spirit Animals Zodiac Signs

In our spiritual journey, we have many different tools helping us to know ourselves better. Zodiac signs are one of them as well as spirit animals. But do spirit animals and zodiac signs are somehow related?

There is not any easy answer for that. That is why I have created this article to elaborate on this question.

Join me while we are answering one by one.

Do zodiac signs have spirit animals?

Zodiac signs do not directly determine your spirit animals. Therefore, the spirit animals can be different for people with the same zodiac signs.

Spirit Animal For Gemini

Gemini is the third sign in the zodiac. People born from May 21 to June 20 usually are Gemini.

Geminis are some of my favorite types of people. That’s because they are so unpredictable, and their moods can change at any time. So it seems interesting to me.

American musician Jewel quoted:

“I’m a Gemini, and I have a lot of different moods. Sometimes I’m very serious and reflective and pensive, but other times I’m completely goofy and girlie. So, I like my songs to cover all my moods.”

If your zodiac sign is Gemini, you must be wondering what your spirit animal is. Well, your zodiac sign has a minimal role to play in this regard.

Spirit animals are unique to everyone, and all those born on the same date do not have the same spirit animal. Depending on who you are, a different spirit animal may appear to you to send some messages.

Therefore, you need to find out which animal is your spirit animal. Then, you can either go on a Shamanic Journey like me or sit in deep meditation.

However, your zodiac sign may have some effect on your behavior. And from your characteristics, you can guess what spirit animal may appear to you.

So, let’s first know different characteristics of the Gemini zodiac sign:

What does Gemini symbolize?

Twin is the symbol of Gemini, which is often represented by roman numerical number two.

The symbol is a depiction of Castor and Pollux holding each other’s hands.

They are twin brothers in Greek and Roman mythology, and the symbol represents their unbreakable bonds.

There is an interesting story behind the twin brothers becoming a constellation.

Though Pollux was immortal, his twin brother Castor was not and died during a battle.

Pollux was heartbroken and prayed to Zeus to make Castor immortal.

Zeus agreed in a condition that Pollux would have to give up half of his immortality.

That resulted in the twin brothers being the Gemini Constellation.

The Gemini zodiac sign symbolizes companion. That means people with the sign are very social beings and like to be around people.

The twin sign also means that Gemini may have two personalities utterly different from each other.

An American businessperson named Jerry West once said:

“I’m a Gemini. Know what that means? There are two very different sides to me.”

Overall, Geminis are extroverted, playful, clever, and intellectually curious. Sometimes they can be amusing to be around, and sometimes the opposite may happen.

What is a Gemini soulmate?

As Geminis are very friendly, they can get close to people with any zodiac signs.

However, based on their nature, Libra and Aquarius can be perfect soulmates for a Gemini.

Libras are also sociable and friendly with people.

The level of intelligence matched with Gemini, which makes these two a great pair.

Aquarius, on the other hand, is quite clever and calm. It is their personality that mainly attracts a Gemini.

The calmness of an Aquarius and the playfulness of a Gemini can make any couple quite interesting.

Native American spirit animal for Gemini

The Native American spirit animal for Gemini is a Deer. A deer spirit animal represents gentleness.

Due to the dual personality of Geminis with playful nature, often their life gets imbalanced.

The gentle nature of a deer spirit animal helps create balance in the life of a Gemini.

Besides, the deers are highly energetic and move quickly.

Such an amount of energy can also be pretty helpful for a Gemini to stay cheerful around others.

Chinese spirit animal for Gemini

Chinese people mainly follow Zodiac signs based upon years. It goes on a 12-year cycle, with each year represented by a different animal.

However, Feng Shui is also popular in China, determining your zodiac sign based on your birth month.

For example, a snake represents the people born from May 6 to June 5, and a horse represents people born from June 6 to July 5.

A snake spirit animal symbolizes healing and transformation, while a horse animal represents strength and passion.

What’s a Gemini’s spirit animal?

So, now the obvious question is, what is a Gemini’s spirit animal? I already provided some names above, but there can be more.

Depending on the personality, Geminis can have a Fox or a Dolphin as their spirit animal.

While a Fox spirit animal matches a Gemini’s clever and witty nature, a Dolphin is very playful like Geminis.

However, these guesses can be wrong, and I recommend you find it yourself to be sure.

As I told you earlier, the Shamanic Journey and deep meditation are great ways to search for your spirit animal.

I have explained everything about finding your spirit animal on my blog; you can read them.

Besides, I also have written many articles on the meaning of spirit animals.

You may find them helpful to know your spirit animal better.

Following are some more information about Gemini’s spiritual self:

Spirit animal Gemini and dragon

Gemini is a sign in the Western zodiac.

However, people often ask what it means if a Gemini is born in the Chinese zodiac year of the dragon.

The question mainly arises because the people born in the year of the dragon are pretty similar.

Both have attractive personalities, and they both love to make their presence known in a crowd.

Combining the zodiac sign Gemini and the year of the dragon, we get the first zodiac sign.

Gemini and dragon refer to a spirit animal hummingbird.

A hummingbird spirit animal is a symbol of good luck.

Like Geminis, hummingbirds are also very playful and love to enjoy life.

Besides, these tiny birds are pretty hard working too.

What is Gemini’s spirit color?

Yellow is the spirit color of a Gemini.

It is pretty bright and represents the cheerful nature of people with Gemini zodiac signs.

The color also mimics the sun, and the sun usually remains around us throughout the day like Geminis love to be among people.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was a German poet, said about yellow color:

“It is the color closest to light. Therefore, it always implies the nature of brightness and has a cheerful, serene, gently stimulating character in its utmost purity. Hence, experience teaches us that yellow makes a thoroughly warm and comforting impression.”

What pet should a Gemini get?

As a Gemini, you can get a parrot as your pet.

Parrots are intelligent like Geminis and can talk too.

So, you can speak to your parrot and have fun whenever you feel alone.

Conclusion

Be skeptical about all this information. Only you can know the truth for yourself.

The journey to find your spirit animal starts from your heart.

Look inside, follow the signs, collaborate with the universe, and trust.

Being in a relationship with your spirit animal is about gaining a new perspective about unity.

So welcome, dear, welcome to this fantastic world of spirit animals.

Spirit Animal Sagittarius: What Is the Spirit Animal for Sagittarius?

Spirit animals, astrology, dreams are all tools that guide us in our spiritual journey. I guess you know your zodiac sign, Sagittarius, and now you are looking for the spirit animal for Sagittarius.

There is one fit-all answer for this question unluckily. Spirit animals do not work as zodiac signs.

Join me to discover more.

Spirit animal for Sagittarius

Your zodiac sign plays a significant role in shaping your behavior. But does it determine your animal?

Well, the straightforward answer would be no.

Your birth date has nothing to do with what can be your spirit animal.

If you want to know what your spirit animal is, you can go on a Shamanic Journey like me, or you also can sit in deep meditation at first.

However, as your birth date shapes your behavior, we can guess what can be your spirit animal based on your behavioral characteristics.

A Sagittarius zodiac spirit animal can be a great guide to your life.

So, at first, learn about Sagittarius zodiac signs, their meanings in different cultures.

Sagittarius sign spirit animal

People born from November 22 to December 22 are usually considered Sagittarius.

The sign of Sagittarius is an archer.

Interestingly, a Greek mythical creature, a centaur, is holding the archer.

A centaur is an animal with a body of a horse and the head of a human.

Centaurs were known to have the excellent fighting ability.

Jupiter planet rules the Sagittarius zodiac sign.

It is famous for its abundance and spiritual growth. Hence, you can consider yourself lucky as a Sagittarian.

What does Sagittarius like?

“Sagittarians can be gregarious and open-minded. This placement makes them enthusiastic, supportive, and generous friends.”

Jessica Lanyadoo (Astrologer).

Sagittarians are intelligent, honest, loyal, and have excellent knowledge.

They are usually very ambitious and prioritize logic over emotions.

If you notice that you can easily make people laugh, you may get that ability from your zodiac sign.

What is the spirit animal for Sagittarius?

As I told you, neither I nor anyone can say for sure what your spirit animal can be just because you are a Sagittarian.

However, many people consider horses as the spirit animal for Sagittarius.

That’s because the centaur, who represents the Sagittarius symbol, had the body of a horse.

Sagittarius man spirit animal

Spirit animals and their messages are unique to each person.

It is who you are that matters most.

Both Sagittarius males and females possess more or less similar personalities.

That means your gender has very little to do about what can be your spirit animal.

Not to mention, there is a slight difference in the behavior of Sagittarius males and females.

Sagittarius men are usually childish.

On the other hand, women are great storytellers and make themselves attractive to others very well.

Such differences in nature may also affect what can be your spirit animal.

What is a Sagittarius spirit animal in Chinese?

Chinese zodiac signs are based on years and not by months.

Nonetheless, other practices of determining zodiac signs in Feng Shui (Chinese Geomancy) are based on months.

Therefore, they are not the same as the zodiac signs we are used to.

Consequently, you can check animal signs of two zodiac signs to guess what can be your spirit animal as a Sagittarian.

Pigs represent the people born from November 6 to December 5 and are honest and diplomatic.

Then a rat represents those born from December 6 to January 5, and they have a personality of being clever and adaptable.

Sagittarius spirit animal tattoo

Tattoos can be a great way to stay connected with your spirit animal all the time.

If you find your Sagittarius zodiac spirit animal, you can have a tattoo of the animal.

Then, whenever you face trouble, the connection may guide you out of it.

Even many people in native American tribes used to have animal tattoos to gain the power of that particular animal.

What animal does Sagittarius represent?

As you have learned quite a lot about Sagittarius zodiac signs, now you can lose some possibilities on spirit animals you may have.

However, I recommend you to go on a journey of your own to find and connect to your actual spirit animal.

As a centaur with an archer represents Sagittarius, a horse can be your spirit animal.

A horse spirit animal symbolizes strength, speed, and passion.

In Native American culture, horses represent wealth, which matches the meaning of Jupiter planet that I talked about earlier.

Besides horses, there are some popular concepts about Sagittarius zodiac sign spirit animals.

However, as these are not certain, you can read about more spirit animals in my blog and find the one you have.

Meanwhile, a brief explanation of some of the spirit animals a Sagittarius may have are:

Sagittarius spirit animal cat

One of the most popular spirit animals that Sagittarius can have is a cat.

A cat spirit animal symbolizes patience, elegance, curiosity, and independence.

They love to be around people they love.

When a cat is your spirit animal, you will have the patience to act in the right moment; you will know where to invest your emotions and so on.

Why is the Sagittarius spirit animal a cat?

As a curious Sagittarius, you may ask why Sagittarius’s spirit animal is a cat?

Well, that’s because cats are carefree animals like Sagittarius.

People often misunderstand cats as rude animals, but the reality is they are friendly with people close to them.

Sagittarians usually possess the same characteristics, so a cat is believed to be a Sagittarius spirit animal.

Sagittarius spirit animal wolf

A wolf can also be your spirit animal if you are a Sagittarius.

Wolves have superior wisdom and can be helpful for any Sagittarian seeking to explore the world.

As Sagittarius rarely cares about people, a wolf also tends to trust others.

Sagittarius spirit animal owl

An owl spirit animal symbolizes free will, independence, and the ability to think limitlessly.

If you are born with the Sagittarius zodiac sign, there is also a pretty good chance of an owl being your spirit animal.

Spirit animal based on zodiac sign

People often look for spirit animals based on their zodiac signs. But that is not how you can find your spirit animal.

Sometimes that can be right based on your behavior and lifestyle. But that’s not the proper way.

How do you find your spirit animal?

Now the obvious question is, how do you find your spirit animal?

Well, my favorite is going on a Shamanic Journey. It not only helps you to find your spirit animal, but you also can connect and get the message of your spirit animal.

I have gone on a Shamanic Journey to find my spirit animal, and it was a worthy experience.

Also, you can sit on a deep meditation. I am sharing links to my experiences about how to find your spirit animal below.

Spiritual Rituals For New Year

In this particular time of the year, when we are stepping to the new, it is a great time to slow down and reflect on the special time of the year. For this reason, spiritual rituals for the new year can help you.

I have prepared an excellent guide for you, including crystal, money, and love rituals for the new year.

Let’s start

How to celebrate new year’s?

The new year is a symbolic time to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new.

So for those walking on their spiritual path, doing different rituals and celebrating it spiritually is a great way to enter the new year.

What do you do spiritually on New Year’s Eve?

In another blog post, I have provided you with many different traditions worldwide with many symbolic meanings.

Rituals provide us a connection to different realms with this symbolic link to communicate and understand.

To celebrate New Year spiritually, you can do any rituals you already feel connected to.

If you are looking for new ideas, I have prepared a nice set of new year’s eve ritual ideas.

New Year’s Day rituals

So what if we create a New Year’s Day full of spiritual rituals for the new year, kind of a day retreat.

You can choose some of the rituals or do all, as you wish.

#1. Crystal rituals for the new year for setting your intentions

Using crystal is a great way to expand the bandwidth of your manifestation, let’s say. So let’s see how you can use crystals for your new year rituals.

Clean your crystals with sound or incense. Cleansing all your space is a great idea for New Year. You can learn how do you cleanse yourself for new year’s here or also here.

Create your sacred space for this ritual. You can also read more about creating your sacred space here

We will do this crystal ritual for the new year to set our new year intentions. You can journal your new year’s intentions.

  • Write down three things you want to have, three things you want to be, and three things you want to do.
  • Once creating this list of 3 categories and writing down three things under each, then prioritize each group, writing the most important, second most important, and 3th most important.
  • For the most important one, write down what you will do about this intention today, tomorrow, this week, and this month.

Once you feel ready, get this paper as a base for your crystal grid.

Think about creating a mandala from your crystals and other beautiful objects that you may have.

Once you have this paper below, follow your intuition and choose from your crystals, flowers, leaves, stones, or other objects of your choice and create a beautiful mandala.

Slow down, connect to the process and think and envision your intentions.

Once you feel ready, if you have a crystal wand, connect all the crystals and objects while keeping your intention in your heart.

Leave your crystal grid for some time in your sacred space.

#2. Money rituals for the new year

In all traditions worldwide, we see money rituals in the new year. Here in this blog post, you can get some ideas from different traditions’ money rituals for the new year.

Moreover, I have also created a money ritual for the new year for you.

With this ritual, you will slow down, look at your money story, rewrite it so that you can choose your own money story.

Then envision, feel gratitude and create a clear intention.

Let’s start!

Discover your money story. Be curious and wander around with an open heart and open mind.

Would you like to play a “knowing your self better game” around your abundance and money stories?

Are you catching yourself with that bit of emotion of expecting something terrible will happen about money?

Let’s say you are an entrepreneur and receive an email, and for a second, an anxious feeling pass from your heart that you will lose money somehow.

Maybe you think that the email is about somebody asking you for money or about your loss, whatever.

Why is that?

Our money stories define how we think and feel about money.

Are you ready to bring the light of your consciousness to your deep stories?

It is time to discover how you think/feel about money. Be authentic. Generally, we all feel one of these five patterns/stories about money. Which is yours?

  1. Earning money is hard.
  2. I’m always broke.
  3. Money is evil.
  4. I’m bad with money.
  5. I’m afraid of money.

Maybe more than one is yours.

Now it is time to work on reframing it.

Take your journal and write down how sometimes you have lived different experiences than the ones you are telling you about repeatedly.

  1. Earning money sometimes has been easy for me. Write down those experiences.
  2. Sometimes, I had enough money in my wallet. Write down those times for you.
  3. Money sometimes causes good. Write down those stories you know from your life or others.
  4. I sometimes acted smartly with money. Write down those moments.
  5. I sometimes dream of having a lot of money, which gives me joy. Write the experience of those moments. How do you feel? What do you envision?

Once you journal on your money stories, you will begin to reframe and choose your own stories.

Use the power of your visions to create your new money story. I invite you to a joyful dreaming. Take around 15 minutes and enjoy while dreaming what you would do with enough money that you would have.

Imagine vividly, almost living it. Then, while imagining, feel the joy.

Additionally, you can have some 20/50 Euros in your pocket, and each time you touch during the day, you can continue to imagine what you would have with this money now for yourself.

Focus on what you have. What is the source of your wealth in your life?

Make a list of those things in your journal. Say thanks and feel the feeling of gratitude in your heart.

After all these exercises, write down 1-2 phrases of your clear intention around money. This is your prayer.

As an example:

“My intention from this new year is to have money(you can also be clear about the amount here) flowing to me easily and as the source of many joyful moments with my loved ones.”

Now rephrase this clear intention/prayer to an affirmation.

“This new year, money is flowing to me easily, and it is the source of many joyful moments with my loved ones.”

Repeat and tune in before sleeping; say thanks to what you already have, repeat your intention and affirmation, envision what you would do with the money that you are asking for,

#3. New year’s rituals for love

The energy you give is the energy you receive. If you are looking for love, then you will give love.

What if you provide some self-love this New Year’s Eve?

Are you ready for a date with yourself?

I created you a great plan, full of love. Do all or choose those that you feel like.

Good morning sweet hear, let’s start from the morning!

Bruce Lee said;

“Do not speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body does not know the difference. Words are energy and cast spells; that’s why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you change your life. What you’re not changing, you are also choosing.”

See yourself in the mirror, tell her that you will be on a date today and you are pleased about it. You are excited. Send a kiss to that girl you see in the mirror and a self-hug. Tell yourself that you love yourself.

Does this sound weird to you? No worries, try!

Savor a leisurely morning with breakfast in bed with some candles and a book.

A lovely bath ritual with some music, again some candles, essential oils, and continue reading.

What about wearing your new year’s resolution on you?

I have heard that Halloween costumes tradition stems from making wishes for Samhain. Samhain is the new year for pagans. And wearing a costume is a powerful magick spell for them.

Think of it as a visual affirmation of your intentions.

So go in front of your wardrobe, put on some music, and dress up as the person you’d like to be in the coming year.

Ask yourself what you want to eat for lunch. Prepare by taking care and being aware that you prepare for yourself. Once done, put on some music and eat with candles.

Buy some flowers or plants for yourself.

Do something that makes your soul happy. Sing, write a poem, sketch, or knit.

Go to enjoy nature for a long walk. You can take it as a walking meditation. Have an intention in your mind while starting, maybe a question. Then leave it to the sky and wander around here and now.

Have a great dinner with family and friends. Those who make you laugh. Laugh until your belly hurts.

Before sleeping, reflect on what you were grateful for from the morning until that moment. Then, live each moment again and go to sleep with a smile on your face.

Conclusion

These special times of the year, which have symbolic meaning, are essential for rituals.

Take some time for yourself this year and slow down and invite spiritual rituals for the new year.

Unique Rituals For New Year Around the World

People celebrate the new year in different ways all around the world. I will share with you the unique rituals for the new year.

So that you can get inspiration and enrich your new year rituals.

Let’s start!

Unique new year traditions and celebrations around the world

#1. Scrying with lead pouring in Germany

In Germany, on New Year’s Eve, families use lead pouring for scrying reasons to see what the new year holds for them.

Families and friends will gather around, melt a small piece of lead on a spoon over a candle and then drop the molten lead into a bowl of cool water.

The lead hardens almost immediately, and its shape helps your scrying.

#2. First foot in Scotland

In Scotland, the “first-foot” tradition has different varieties. Here is my favorite:

People close all the lights in the house at midnight, except for a single candle flame.

Somebody from the house goes outside with the candle and must prevent the flame from extinguishing.

Then that same person comes in as a “guest.” Everybody welcomes.

The “guest” then goes around the house and uses the candle to ceremonially relight the home as a symbol of the sun’s return.

#3. Connecting with spirit guides in Brazil

In Brazil, on New Year’s Eve, people wear white and throw white flowers and candles into the ocean to offer Lemanja, Goddess of the Sea.

How do you cleanse yourself for new year’s?

Would you like to set a new stage for the year to come?

Here I am giving you a cleansing ritual from the book “Yule: Rituals, Recipes & Lore for the Winter Solstice” by Susan Pesznecker.

You can also read here alternative ideas about cleansing at home.

Smudge the entryways and corners using sage, sweetgrass, juniper, or cedar, or sprinkle with saltwater, moving deosil (counterclockwise) from one room to the next.

As you work, repeat this:

May the winds inspire you,

earth protect you,

water heal you,

and fire always warms the heart.

As you move through the space, clap your hands to disperse old, stagnant energy, then use a bell or rattle to welcome in fresh, sacred energy.

If you have one or more sleigh bells, they’re perfect for this new year cleansing.

Open windows to let in the fresh air, even if for only a few minutes—this is not only great for cleansing and clarification, but it’s also healthful.

Once you’ve finished the cleansing, bring protective elements into your rooms or hang protective talismans over doors and windows.

The earth element grounds us and provides a sort of metaphysical “anchor.”

Place crystals or small bowls of sea salt around the kitchen and evoke crystalline ice and snow.

Small ceramic or wooden trees also represent the earth element nicely, as do small animal figurines—particularly Bear, who tunnels into the earth during the winter and then emerges as the light returns.

The air element is energizing and improves our alertness and mental clarity.

Burn incense or simmer a kettle of water and spices on the kitchen stove.

Diffuse essential oils.

Hang small white lights everywhere or cut paper snowflakes and let them dangle and spin from the ceiling.

The fire element recalls the spark of life in the so-called dead of winter.

Bring in fire burn candles, or if you have a fireplace, make use of it.

Set luminarias outside, lighting the path to your door.

String lights inside and out—the more, the better!

Sip warm mugs of tea, cocoa, or hot cider to kindle your internal fire during the long evenings.

The water element calms, soothes, and heals.

Use mirrors to represent winter’s frozen pools and ice, or set out a small bowl or cauldron of water.

Use smooth river rocks to adorn your altars or tableaus.

Conclusion

On New Year’s Eve, you can do some rituals that you already feel connected to.

But, if you need some variety, you can try some of these rituals that I have mentioned from different cultures around the world.

The symbolism of Phoenix: Phoenix symbolism in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism

Garuda is a mythological creature in Asian cultures, and its fictitious stories have their place in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

Lately, I was writing different articles about the symbolism of the phoenix, as you can see the articles below:

In this article, I invite you to discover Garuda Phoenix mythology and find the commonalities of the Garuda with the phoenix. So let’s start, shall we?

Who is Garuda?

The Garuda is a humanoid creature with golden wings, sharp claws, and a snake in its beak.

Garuda flies through the sky.

Gruda’s wings make the sounds of the hymns of the Vedas.

Garuda symbolizes courage.

According to the Indian Mahabharata, Garuda was born inside an egg.

It appeared as a solid and shining light to start the enormous cosmic disaster that occurred at the end of each era to destroy the Earth.

The Devas begged Garuda to shrink him in body and energy, fearing Garuda’s limitless power, and Garuda heeded their prayers.

According to legend, Garuda was so big that everyone confused him with Agni, the god of fire.

Is Garuda a phoenix?

Garuda is an analog of the phoenix and has similar symbolization with it and in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.

Is Garuda a hawk or eagle?

Garuda is described as a divine eagle-like sun bird and the king of birds.

What is Garuda the god of?

Garuda is not the god of but the vahana (mount) of the god Vishnu.

Garuda mythology powers

According to Hindu and Buddhist mythology, the movement of its wings caused a storm.

The shine of his feathers was so intense that it even outshined the glare of the sun.

He also could increase his strength as much as he needed.

Garuda Phoenix mythology: Garuda mythology story

Garuda was born of the sage Kashyapa and the mother of birds Vinata. Kashyapa also married Kadru, Vinata’s sister, who gave birth to a thousand snakes (the ancestors of all snakes living on Earth today).

Why Garuda and snakes are enemies?

One day, Vinata and Kadru made a trivial bet regarding the color of the tail of the Uchchaihshravas.

This seven-headed flying horse appeared during the churning of the Milky Ocean.

While Kadru claimed that the horse’s tail was black, Vinata thought it was white.

As a result of Kadru’s deception, Vinata lost the bet and became Kadru’s slave, and she and her snake sons mistreated Vinata.

Trying to stop his mother from suffering in this humiliating captivity, Garuda went to the snakes and asked what he should give them to buy his mother’s freedom.

The Nagas said that to free her mother, she must bring the Nectar of Immortality (Amrita), which the gods bravely captured from the depths of the ocean.

Garuda knew this would be a difficult task to accomplish, as the amrita elixir was protected by a sky-filling fire, sharp whirling blades, and two giant venomous snakes placed protectively next to the elixir.

But the mighty king of birds was not afraid.

He defeated them all and entered the area where amrita was stored and protected.

With the amrita pot in his mouth, he headed straight for the Nagas, who kept his mother under his control.

Then suddenly, he appeared before Vishnu, the great Hindu god who guards all things, one of the highest deities, usually depicted with blue skin and four arms.

They mutually promised each other, and Vishnu promised Garuda immortality without drinking from amrita’s cup.

Garuda agreed to serve Vishnu as his unique mount.

Garuda later encountered Indra. He said he would give the elixir to Indra after he delivered it to the Nagas.

Indra said that he would give the serpents to Garuda as food.

Reaching the lands of the Nagas, Garuda placed the pot containing the potion on the grass.

Immediately demanded that they release his mother Vinata and perform the necessary religious rites before drinking the amrita.

While the Nagas were busy with their rituals, Indra quickly took the vessel full of amrita.

When the snakes returned, they were shocked to see that the potion had disappeared and the pot was not there as they tried to lick the spilled drops of amrita on the ground.

(There is an interesting commonality with the Gilgamesh epic here. After getting the immortality plant in the middle of the ocean, Gilgamesh put it on the grass while he rests, and the snakes eat it there.)

Legend says that this is how the tongues of snakes (Nagas) split in two.

When Garuda fulfilled the task and amrita returned to the gods, he fulfilled his promise to Vishnu.

From then on, Garuda became closely related to Vishnu, and in addition to Vishnu, his wife Lakshmi also used Garuda as a mount (‘vahana’).

What does the Garuda bird symbolize?

According to Wikipedia;

Garuda appears in many traditions and stories, especially in Java and Bali. In many stories, Garuda symbolizes the virtue of knowledge, power, bravery, loyalty, and discipline. As the vehicle of Vishnu, Garuda also bears the attributes of Vishnu, which symbolize the preservation of cosmic order.

Garuda’s links to Vishnu – the Hindu god who fights injustice and destroys evil in his various avatars to preserve dharma, have made him an iconic symbol of king’s duty and power, an emblem of royalty or dharma.

His eagle-like form, either alone or with Vishnu, signifies divine approval of the state’s power.

You can find Garuda on the faces of many early Hindu kingdom coins with this symbolism, either as a single-headed bird or a three-headed bird that watches all sides.

Throughout the Mahabharata, Garuda was a symbol of impetuous violent force, speed, and martial prowess.

Defeated warriors are like snakes beaten down by Garuda.

The Mahabharata character Drona uses a military formation named after Garuda.

Krishna even carries the image of Garuda on his banner.

Conclusion

Garuda invites us to find out the meaning of immortality as in Gilgamesh’s epic.

These mythologies are entering our lives when we listen to them and slowly open up their secrets to us if we are willing to reflect on them.
